About the Event
The Youth Parliament will follow a parliamentary procedure, mimicking a real-life session. There will be:
- Speaker: Responsible for maintaining order and ensuring adherence to parliamentary rules.
- Government: Proposes the implementation of the UCC and presents arguments in favour.
- Opposition: Opposes the UCC and presents arguments against its implementation.
- Independent Members: Analyze both sides and propose amendments or alternative solutions.
Theme
- The Uniform Civil Code (UCC) is a proposed law in India that would establish a common set of personal laws governing marriage, inheritance, adoption, and other matters applicable to all Indian citizens regardless of their religion. This Youth Parliament session will provide a platform for young minds to engage in a constructive debate on the UCC.
- Necessity and benefits of the UCC: Does India need a Uniform Civil Code to promote national integration and gender equality?
- Challenges in implementing the UCC: How can we ensure respect for religious and cultural practices while creating a uniform code?
- Finding common ground: Can a UCC be drafted that accommodates the diverse needs of different communities?
- Alternative approaches: Are there other ways to achieve national unity and equality without a UCC.
