About the Programme

Environmental law in the 21st century faces multifaceted and complex challenges, reflecting the dynamic interplay between environmental protection, economic development, and social justice.

However, there are two key challenges, firstly disaster management: Climate Change has increasingly exacerbated the impacts of natural disasters. Responding to and mitigating the impacts of such disasters requires a robust legal framework ensuring disaster preparedness and response mechanisms integrating climate change adaptation.

Secondly, Civil society plays a crucial role in the enforcement and advancement of environmental laws. Non-governmental organizations (NGOs), community groups, and activists are essential in raising awareness, advocating for stronger environmental protections, and holding governments and corporations accountable. These groups often act as watchdogs, monitoring compliance with environmental regulations and bringing legal challenges against violators.

This program aims to provide a brief understanding on key issues pertaining to environmental law and Disaster management in India.
