About the Magazine Committee

Established in the year 2019, the Magazine Committee aims to chonicle and showcase the diverse activities and achievements within the institution as well as of the various competitions organised by the Committee. The Committee publishes it’s annual magazine ‘The Muses’, written and edited by the students of the Department of Law, University of Calcutta, which chronicles all activities under the aegis of the institution and paints a picture of the yearly endeavours of this institute and its students.

This publication provides a platform for the students to exhibit their creative, scientific, literary, academic prowess. In this edition, the committee is accepting submissions from all.

It also runs an online blog “The Musing” where articles, essays, poems and interviews are published.

The Magazine Committee, Department of Law is pleased to announce the theme of this week’s The Sunday Blog Post.

Theme: Whose Time Is It Anyway?

If property is defined by one’s right to exclude others, can we truly claim ownership over our own time when emails, calls, and notifications demand our attention long after work ends?This blog explores the emerging right to disconnect and asks a fundamental socio-legal question: do we own our personal time, or has it become a resource perpetually open to occupation?

Eligibility

Any undergraduate student from any colleges.

Submission Details

  1. Languages accepted: English, বাংলা (Bengali), हिंदी (Hindi).
  2. Font: Times New Roman (mandatory).
  3. File format: Word document (.doc / .docx).
  4. Word limit: 450–500 words (analytical essays, critical reflections, or reportage).
  5. One author = One submission.
  6. Use of AI: Any article found to exceed 10% AI-generated content will be DISQUALIFIED.
  7. Hyperlinks should be used when necessary(for footnotes if necessary)
  8. RENAME your files with your respective names.

Last date for Submissions

27th June, 2026 (11:59 p.m. IST)

Note: No submission will be entertained after the deadline.
