About SVKM’s Pravin Gandhi College of Law (PGCL)

Situated in the bustling city of Mumbai, SVKM’s Pravin Gandhi College of Law (PGCL) stands as an eminent institution affiliated with Mumbai University. PGCL offers an extensive five-year B.A./LL.B. course, recognizing the unique spark of creativity within each student.

About Shastrartha

Shastrartha is PGCL’s most awaited annual event, which consists of interactive sessions by eminent speakers and inter-collegiate competitions. The objective behind organizing Shastrartha is to imbibe an awareness of values and to shape the students as responsible citizens and professionals, for their holistic development. It is a dynamic initiative that serves as a crossroad for interdisciplinary exchange, bringing together diverse fields such as society, economics, politics, sports, management, music, and literature. Professional speakers from these realms enlighten students through guest lectures, bridging theory and practical application.

About the Competition

Furthermore, to fulfil the institution’s fervent desire to foster a spirit of inquiry, critical thinking, and scholarly pursuit among the legal fraternity, we organize inter-collegiate competitions as a part of this event. By participating in the competitions, students will have an opportunity to showcase their legal acumen.

The three innovative competitions for which we cordially invite students across India are as under:

  • Reverse Engineering: A Judgment will be given to the participants and they will be expected to draft a plaint/petition.
  • Narrative Jurisprudence: A paper clipping will be provided and on the basis of the same, participants have to plead on behalf of the accused.
  • Donning the Wig: A case will be argued virtually in front of the participants and they will be expected to write the judgment.

Mode: In our pursuit of excellence, Shastrartha competitions will be conducted online, ensuring accessibility and inclusivity for participants from diverse geographical locations across India.
