Saga Legal Completes 10 Years, Opens Hyderabad Office With Poojitha Babbepalli as Partner

Saga Legal marks its tenth anniversary in October 2026 with a significant step towards the expansion of its national footprint, opening an office in Hyderabad, its fourth city of operations. Joining New Delhi, Mumbai and Bengaluru, the Hyderabad office signals the firm’s ambitions for its next decade of growth.
The milestone brings together ten years of building a multi-service legal practice and a growing presence across India’s key business centres. With capabilities spanning litigation and arbitration, corporate and commercial advisory, mergers and acquisitions, private equity and venture capital, banking and finance, intellectual property, and real estate, amongst others, Saga Legal enters its second decade with a broad platform to support clients across transactions, disputes and business-critical legal matters.

It has been a decade of steady, deliberate expansion, and the momentum has only grown with time. In 2022, the firm opened its Bengaluru office, building a corporate and disputes practice, serving the city’s startup and enterprise clients. In 2024, it opened its Mumbai office, and in the same year moved its New Delhi team into larger premises in Okhla. Over the past two years, the firm has added lateral partners across its disputes, technology and financial regulatory practices. Last October, marking its ninth year, the firm launched Saga Soirée, a monthly initiative for conversation and exchange within the legal community. Each of these steps has been a milestone in the journey of a firm maturing into the institution it has become.
Hyderabad is the next step in that journey, and the first of the firm’s second decade. Coming after Bengaluru in 2022 and Mumbai in 2024, it continues a rhythm of a new city every two years. The office will be headed by Poojitha Babbepalli, who joins the firm as Partner. A graduate of ILS Law College, Pune (2016), Poojitha is joining Saga Legal from JSA, Hyderabad and has previously had stints with Tatva Legal and Luthra & Luthra. She is a disputes and real estate lawyer who has advised multinational corporations, developers, financial institutions and infrastructure companies across sectors including real estate and infrastructure, telecom, media and entertainment, healthcare and manufacturing. She regularly appears before the High Courts of Telangana, Andhra Pradesh and Bombay, and before the National Company Law Tribunal’s Hyderabad and Chennai benches.
Speaking on the occasion, Gaurav Nair, Founder and Managing Partner, stated, “Ten years is long enough to know what a firm stands for, and young enough to know that its most defining work is still ahead. Saga Legal has grown because we have been clear about the kind of firm we wanted to be: rigorous in our advice, accountable to our clients, and invested in the people who we work with. That clarity has allowed us to expand without losing the character that brought us here. Hyderabad is the natural next expression of that ambition. It is a market we have watched closely, and Poojitha brings both the sectoral depth and the
judgment to build something enduring tere. Hyderabad is the first step in shaping what Saga Legal becomes in its second decade.”

Sanika Mehra, Co-Managing Partner, added, “We have built the practices, the partnership and the presence of a national firm in a single decade, and we have done it without compromising on the quality of our work or the way we treat our people. The second decade is about scale with the same discipline and ethos. Hyderabad is where it starts: a sector we had identified for expansion, and in Poojitha, a Partner who understands it deeply and shares how we like to work.”
Commenting on her move, Poojitha Babbepalli said, “I have seen first-hand how quickly the region’s economy has grown, and with it, the sophistication of the legal needs of businesses operating here. Joining Saga Legal allows me to bring that experience to a firm with a national footprint – giving its existing clients local representation and giving businesses in the region access to a multi-city team. What drew me to Saga Legal was the Firm’s combination of national reach and a genuinely collaborative way of working. I look forward to building a practice here that grows with the city: one that is responsive to the needs of businesses in the region, grounded in local insight, and connected to the Firm’s broader capabilities.”
