National Law School of India University (NLSIU), or simply the National Law School (NLS), is a public law school in Bangalore Karnataka, India. The school is one of the preeminent centres of legal education in India.

The university was established by the NLSIU Act of 1986, which was enacted by the Karnataka Legislative Assembly.The school offers a five-year undergraduate Bachelor of Arts–Bachelor of Laws programme (BA/LLB) and a postgraduate single LLB programme, both of which qualify graduates for an admission to the bar.

About the Job

NLSIU invites applications for the position of Research Assistant (2 positions) with the DPIIT IPR Chair, NLSIU. These are full-time contractual positions for 8 months, based out of NLSIU campus in Bangalore.

The DPIIT-IPR Chair at NLSIU, constituted under the Scheme for Pedagogy & Research in IPRs for Holistic Education and Academia [SPRIHA] of DPIIT, Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Government of India, has been actively undertaking research and advocacy in the area of intellectual property rights. The Research Assistants will be working on diverse kinds of research and dissemination activities of the Chair. 

Eligibility

Essential

  • Post-graduate degree in law
  • Demonstrable academic/ research interest in the area of intellectual property
  • Excellent writing and communication skills

Desirable

  • Academic/ research/ industry experience in the field of IP
  • Interest in empirical investigations
  • Fieldwork experience
  • Quantitative data analysis skills

Responsibilities

  • Conducting  literature reviews
  • Preparation of case studies
  • Conducting interviews and/ or surveys
  • Preparation of the research outputs, including academic publications
  • Organizing workshops

Salary

The salary shall be commensurate with experience and as per SPRIHA guidelines of DPIIT.

8 months
