About The College

Thakur Educational Trust was established in 1990 with the overarching goal of contributing to the welfare of society. In alignment with this mission, the trust has provided a wide range of services addressing various societal needs, including offering education at all levels, regardless of gender, religion, or ethnicity. The trust also extends financial assistance to underprivileged and deserving students. Furthermore, it actively engages in numerous educational, cultural, and social initiatives and has made financial contributions to several religious and social institutions

The institute fosters practical legal training through its Student Moot Court Society and a placement cell collaborating with reputed firms. Active forums for legal, cultural, and sports activities organize moots, debates, seminars, workshops, and more. It also publishes Law Spective, a student newsletter encouraging discourse on contemporary issues.

With state-of-the-art infrastructure, dedicated faculty, and a dynamic learning environment, the college empowers students to excel and contribute meaningfully to society, as evidenced by its accomplished alumni in the legal profession.

About PCGT

Public Concern for Governance Trust (PCGT) was founded in 2002 with the vision of fostering integrity and accountability in governance. PCGT focuses on empowering the youth with ethical values and leadership skills, enabling them to become responsible and informed citizens dedicated to promoting good governance. It is a registered trust founded by Mr. Julio Ribeiro, Dr. R.K. Anand, and late Mr. B.G. Deshmukh to increase public participation and activism towards creating a more transparent and efficient governance system.

About the 4th Edition of the PCGT Conclave

This conference marks the 4th Edition of the PCGT Conclave, an annual event known for encouraging meaningful conversations on governance, ethics, and public interest. Organized by PCGT, the conclave brings together thought leaders, policymakers, legal professionals, academicians, and students to discuss important issues that shape our society.

Building on the success of previous editions, this year’s conclave focuses on the theme Constitution for All, or Samvidhan Sabke Liye. The event aims to highlight the importance of constitutional values in everyday life and to encourage a deeper understanding of the rights and duties that guide our democracy. The sessions are designed to make the Constitution more accessible to all and to inspire active and informed citizenship.

About the Competition

This debate competition is designed to encourage thoughtful discussion and promote awareness about the importance of the Constitution in the legal field and in everyday life. It aims to help participants understand how constitutional values guide our rights, responsibilities, and the future of our democracy.

Each team contains two speakers.

Registration Fee- Rs.500

Cash prize

  • Best team: Rs 5000
  • 2nd Best team: Rs 3000 and;
  • Best Speaker: Rs 2000

Eligibility

Participation is opened to all bonafide students studying in any UGC recognised college or university.

General Instructions

Participants must join the Zoom call at least 10 minutes prior to their scheduled round.

Dress code

  • Business formals are mandatory.
  • Ensure a stable internet connection throughout the debate.
  • Maintain decorum during the meeting and adhere to professional conduct.
  • Note: Participants are requested to adhere strictly to the allotted time and
  • speaking order to ensure smooth proceedings.
  • The topic of the debate competition will revolve around the Constitution.
  • A maximum of 20 teams shall participate.

Instructions for Debate Participants

Total Duration of the Round: Each debate round will last for 20 minutes.

Speaking Time Allocation: Each speaker will have 4 minutes to present their arguments. The team supporting the motion will begin the debate.

Speaking Order:

  • Speaker 1 (For the Motion): 4 minutes
  • Speaker 1 (Against the Motion): 4 minutes
  • Speaker 2 (For the Motion): 4 minutes
  • Speaker 2 (Against the Motion): 4 minutes

Closing Statements: After the main arguments, one speaker from each side will deliver a 2-minute closing statement. The team against the motion will deliver their closing statement first, followed by the team for the motion.

Motion Announcement: The motion for the debate will be shared at least 10 minutes before the round begins. The motion will be communicated via WhatsApp to ensure timely preparation.
