About the Organization

UPES was established in 2003 through the UPES Act of 2003, of the State Legislature of Uttarakhand. It is a leading higher education institution in India, renowned for its industry-focused programs and commitment to developing future-ready professionals. Located in Dehradun, Uttarakhand, UPES offers a wide array of undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctoral programs in specialised fields, focusing on sectors such as energy, engineering, law, business, design, aviation, and more.

About the National Event

VidhiUtsav, the annual Law Fest organized by the School of Law, UPES, is India’s largest academic Law Fest that brings together budding legal minds from across the country. Through this extravagant event, students can demonstrate their legal knowledge, argumentative abilities, and intellectual power. In order to assess participants’ research, advocacy, and critical thinking abilities, the fest usually includes a wide range of competitions, such as debates, quiz contests, legal draughting, and moot courts.

Prominent academics, business leaders, and legal luminaries attend the event and impart knowledge and insights to attendees. VidhiUtsav has set the standard for Law Fests in India with its demanding competitions, interesting workshops, and thought-provoking guest lectures. It encourages a spirit of friendship, healthy competition, and legal scholarship within the nascent legal community.

About the Committee

The Centre for Sports Law (CSL) is a constituent unit and specialized research centre at UPES. Since its establishment, CSL has actively undertaken various initiatives to provide a platform for law students and young legal professionals to address contemporary issues prevalent in the growing industry of sports law. Through this, CSL hopes to encourage dialogue, debate, and discussion (3D’s) on the issues and policies in sports law.

About the Competition

The National Sports Law Blueprint Advocacy Competition, 2025 is an exciting initiative organized by the Centre for Sports Law at School of Law, UPES Dehradun. This event aims to engage students, researchers, and professionals in the critical discourse surrounding Sports Law and legal frameworks that regulate sports.
The competition seeks to foster research and advocacy in presenting research related to sports law. It provides a platform for participants to showcase their understanding of various aspects of sports law, including but not limited to legislative measures, ethical considerations, and advocacy strategies.

Theme

The theme for this Competition is “Inclusion and Protection of Trans and Intersex Athletes in Sports in India.” Participants are encouraged to formulate legislation that ensures the inclusion and protection of trans and intersex athletes, while carefully reconciling the rights and interests of women athletes. The proposed frameworks must promote equality, uphold the integrity of sports, and guarantee fair and inclusive participation for all, reflecting a nuanced understanding of diverse athletic identities and rights.

Eligibility

Each participant must be a current law student of UG/PG at any recognized law school, college, or university in India

Registration Fee

The registration fee for the National Sports Law Blueprint Advocacy Competition, 2025 shall be:
₹1200 for team of 2
₹600 for team of 1

• Runners-Up Team Award: Cash prize of INR 7,000 + Certificate of Merit + Trophy
• 2nd Runners-Up Team Award: Cash prize of INR 5,000 + Certificate of Merit + Trophy
• Certificate of Merit: Best Advocate & Best Draft
