Established in 1924, the Faculty of Law, University of Delhi, stands as a distinguished and venerable institution, nationally revered for its excellence in legal scholarship. Over the past century, it has cultivated a legacy of producing illustrious jurists, eminent advocates, and visionary policymakers. In its centenary year (2024), the Faculty launched the 5-Year Integrated Law Course (ILC) offering B.A. LL.B. (Hons.) and B.B.A. LL.B. (Hons.) programmes.​

About The Literary and Debating Society

The Literary and Debating Society, ILC, operates under the guidance of Prof. L. Pushpa Kumar, Director, ILC and Dr. Mannat Singh, Faculty Convenor Lit-Debsoc, ILC. The Society provides students space for reasoned expression, critical thinking, and inclusive discussion. It has become a recognised community built on the belief that words have weight and thoughtful dialogue shapes perspectives.​

About the Event

The Literary and Debating Society of the 5-Year Integrated Law Course (ILC), Faculty of Law, University of Delhi, in collaboration with the Culture Council, is pleased to announce a National Seminar on “Bharat’s Civilizational Heritage and Dharma-based Community Governance” on November 14, 2025.​

The seminar explores Bharat’s civilizational wisdom and examines how the concept of Dharma has influenced governance and community life across centuries. Rooted in the principle “धर्मएवहतोहन्तिधर्मोरक्षतिरक्षितः” (Justice, blighted, blights; and justice, preserved, preserves), this event delves into Dharma-based community governance, which emphasizes consensus, accountability, and compassion as principles sustaining social cohesion and ecological balance.​

Distinguished Speakers

Chief Guest: Shri J. Sai Deepak, Senior Advocate
Senior Advocate designated by Delhi High Court (2024), constitutional lawyer, author of the acclaimed trilogy India That Is Bharat, and public intellectual known for integrating Indic civilizational thought into contemporary legal discourse. He has served as Special Counsel in the Basmati GI litigation and argued in landmark cases, including Sabarimala Temple entry.​

Guest of Honour: Shri Vishnu Shankar Jain, AOR
Distinguished Supreme Court Advocate-on-Record (since 2016), nationally recognised for protecting Hindu religious heritage sites through his work on Krishna Janmabhoomi (Mathura), Qutub Minar complex (Delhi), Bhojshala-Dhar (Madhya Pradesh), and Sambhal’s Jama Masjid cases.​
