About the Event

The National Reel Making and Essay Writing Competition 2026, themed “Act Green, Live Clean”, invites students from across India to explore contemporary environmental issues creatively and academically. The competition combines digital storytelling and legal writing to promote research, advocacy, and sustainability awareness. It is organised by the Centre for Research in Environmental Law and Sustainability (CRELS), School of Law, Galgotias University, and is open to students of any stream at the undergraduate and postgraduate levels.

Eligibility

  • Reel Making Competition: Open to students of any stream (UG/PG); individual or team participation (maximum 2 members).
  • Essay Writing Competition: Open to Undergraduate and Postgraduate Law Students only; individual participation only (co-authorship not permitted).

Reel Making Competition:

  • 1st Prize: ₹2,000 + Merit E-Certificate
  • 2nd Prize: ₹1,500 + Merit E-Certificate
  •  All Participants: Participation E-Certificate
  • The winning reel will be featured on CRELS’s official social media handles.

Essay Writing Competition:

  • 1st Prize: ₹2,000 + Publication Opportunity + Merit E-Certificate
  • 2nd Prize: ₹1,500 + Publication Opportunity + Merit E-Certificate
  • All Participants: Participation E-Certificate
  • The top 2 essays will receive a publication opportunity.

Formatting Guidelines

For Reel Making Competition:

  • Duration: 60-120 seconds
  • Format: MP4 / MOV
  •  Resolution: Minimum 1080p
  • Language: English or Hindi

For Essay Writing Competition:

  • Word Limit: 1,500-2,500 words (excluding footnotes)
  • Font: Times New Roman; Size: 12 pt (text), 10 pt (footnotes)
  • Line Spacing: 1.5 (text), Single (footnotes)
  • Margins: 1 inch on all sides
  • Citation Style: Bluebook (20th/21st Edition) or ILI Style
  • File Format: PDF + Word (.docx)

Selection Guidelines

Evaluation Criteria for Reel Making Competition (Total: 100 Marks):

  • Creativity & Originality – 30 marks
  • Relevance to Theme – 25 marks
  • Clarity of Message – 20 marks
  • Technical Quality – 15 marks
  • Overall Impact – 10 marks

Additional Selection Criteria:

  • Entries must be original and unpublished.
  • Plagiarism will lead to immediate disqualification.
  • Use of copyrighted material without permission is prohibited.
  • For essays, maximum plagiarism allowed is 10% (excluding footnotes).
  • Use of AI is prohibited for essay submissions.
  • Offensive, political, or defamatory content is strictly prohibited.
  • The Organising Committee reserves the right to publish selected entries with due credit.
  • The decision of judges shall be final and binding.

Submission Guidelines

  • Mode: Online Submission only.
  • Two separate Google Forms will be used: (1) Registration Form – for participant details and payment confirmation; (2) Final Submission Form – for uploading the reel or essay. The Final Submission Form link will be shared via email to registered participants after completion of the Registration Form.
  • Registration will be considered complete only after successful payment confirmation.
  • Registration and Submission Deadline (Important Dates)
  • Extended Registration Deadline: 25 June 2026
  •  Extended Submission Deadline: 30 June 2026

Registration Fees

Participation Fee: ₹150 per entry (non-refundable). Payment must be made before completing the registration form. Registration is considered complete only after successful payment confirmation.

  • Complete the payment via the payment QR code/link provided in the competition brochure.
  • Fill in the Registration Form (Google Form) with participant details and payment confirmation.
