About the Competition

SVKM’s NMIMS Navi Mumbai, after two successful editions of its prestigious hallmark National Moot Court Competition, proudly announces its third edition in March 2024. In this edition, the competition pioneers in a completely offline format, welcoming teams from law schools across the country to campus. The competition is structured in a way that ensures rigorous selection, beginning with a memorial qualification round leading to the selection of the top 20 teams in the oral rounds. In the oral rounds held on the magnificent campus, the selected teams argue their cases before a panel of prominent judges who possess expertise in the field of Company Law and Arbitration.

Our third edition of the National Moot Court Competition is being sponsored by one of the most prestigious Law firms, M/s Crawford Bayley & Co. Crawford Bayley & Co., founded in 1830 is one of India’s oldest and best known law firms, with rich & well-endowed experience in several practice areas. The Partners and several of the Associates have decades of extensive legal expertise and have been advising various leading Indian and foreign companies on a vast variety of matters. The firm is consistently engaged by India’s biggest corporate houses as well as major multinational corporations on several complex matters, requiring advice on company laws, securities laws, revenue / taxation laws, dispute resolution, labour laws, foreign exchange laws, pharmaceutical laws, to name a few.

Eligibility

• All students enrolled in a three (3) year LL.B. program, or a five (5) year integrated law program shall be eligible to participate in the Competition.
• Students enrolled in post-graduate or diploma courses are NOT eligible to participate.
• Your esteemed institution is invited to participate in the Competition by registering a team consisting of not more than three members. A maximum of twenty teams will be hosted for this edition. The selection would be made on a first come first serve basis. We would appreciate an e-mail confirmation of your institution’s participation in the Competition at the earliest.
• Provisional registration (in case the team composition has not been determined), if not done yet, may be done by sending an e-mail confirming participation.

Theme

The proposition of the NMIMS Navi Mumbai’s 3rd National Moot Court Competition, 2024 is centered around the INSOLVENCY AND BANKRUPTCY CODE integrated with the Arbitration & Conciliation Act. This moot proposition aims to stimulate discussions and critical analysis regarding the intersection of insolvency proceedings under the IBC and the incorporation of arbitration as a complementary mechanism for resolving disputes arising during such proceedings. In the current scenario where a debtor faces insolvency and initiates proceedings under the Insolvency and Bankruptcy Code (IBC), coupled with the presence of unresolved disputes, the consolidation of arbitration as a parallel mechanism for dispute resolution should be explored.

• All participating teams will be provided with a certificate of participation or a certificate of merit in accordance with the performance of the team.

Registration Fees

The Registration Fee for the Competition is INR 7,000/- (Rupees Seven Thousand Only) inclusive of the accommodation and food as mentioned in the Rulebook. Complete the fee payment to the below-mentioned bank details.

Once the payment of the registration fee is completed, teams are required to register for the Competition by filling out a registration form.

Please fill out all the sections of the Registration Form for participation in NMIMS Navi Mumbai’s 3rd National Moot Court Competition, 2024. All fields are mandatory.

While filling out the Registration Form, the teams have to choose a primary contact person. All communications concerning the Competition will be sent by e-mail to the nominated contact person. The nominated contact person shall be responsible for conveying all the information to the team.

Attach the transaction screenshot to the registration form and fill in the other required details as mentioned. Upon verification of the fee payment with the University administration, the organizers shall confirm your participation in the Competition. The teams after registration will receive a confirmation mail from the Organising Committee for confirmation of the slot for the competition. In the event this email is not received by the registered team, it may contemporaneously send an email with its registration details to [email protected].
