KIIT School of Law is a private law school in Bhubaneswar, Odisha within the Kalinga Institute of Industrial Technology campus, to which it is affiliated. KLS offers a five years integrated course in BA LL.B., BBA LL.B. and BSc LL.B. with honours specialization in different areas of law; LL.M. and PhD.

The KIIT School of Law Legal Services Clinic promotes legal awareness, social justice, and community engagement. Established by the Bar Council of India Rules on Legal Education, the Clinic is a mandatory component of all 5-year law programs, embodying the commitment to nurturing a just and equitable society. The vision is to ensure access to justice by providing pro bono legal services for the downtrodden, weaker sections of the populace, and NGOs of limited means, while fostering legal awareness.

About the Opportunity

The KIIT School of Law Legal Services Clinic is thrilled to announce its National Level Reel Making Competition, a unique platform for creative minds and storytellers nationwide. This competition offers an opportunity for individuals to express their creativity while raising awareness about legal issues through engaging short reels.

Eligibility

  • Students pursuing any three-year or five-year integrated courses of the LL.B. degree from any Law School/College/University/Institution recognized by the Bar Council of India (BCI) are eligible to participate. (Students pursuing the LL.M. degree are also eligible to participate).
  • Students from any Year/Semester can form/join a Team and register for participation. Cross-semester participation is allowed, i.e., a Team may consist of students from different semesters/years.
  • The cross-college combination is also permitted.

Theme

  • Know Your Rights: Analyze fundamental rights guaranteed under the Indian Constitution through informative Reels. Discuss insights into principles of equality, freedom of speech, and right to education, empowering individuals across diverse cultural backgrounds and fostering gender equality.
  • Legal Myths vs. Facts: Engage in debunking common legal misconceptions with factual accuracy. Enhance legal literacy and dispel misinformation prevalent among diverse cultural groups, promoting clarity in personal laws and advancing gender equality through informed understanding.
  • Women’s Rights and Legal Protections: Examine legal frameworks safeguarding women’s rights, including provisions against domestic violence, workplace harassment, and maternity benefits. Educate on available legal remedies, advocating cultural diversity, and reinforcing gender equality principles.
  • Cyber Safety and Legal Remedies: Discuss cybercrime awareness, online safety protocols, and legal recourse options for victims. Address digital threats across cultural spectra, particularly focusing on gender-specific cyber issues, promoting a secure digital environment and equitable protection.
  • How to Seek Legal Aid: Examine procedures for accessing pro bono legal services and understanding available support mechanisms. Foster cultural inclusivity in legal aid accessibility, encouraging marginalized groups, including women, to seek equitable justice under personal laws.
  • Consumer Rights: Discuss the comprehensive understanding of consumer rights and grievance resolution procedures. Explore protections encompassing cultural diversity, advocate for gender parity in consumer rights advocacy, and explore legal remedies to ensure fair treatment.

  • 25 August 2024: Last Date for Submitting Entries
  • 10 September 2024: Last Date for Counting Engagement on the Reels
  • 14 September 2024: Declaration of Results
