About the Organisation

Gujarat National Law University (GNLU) is one of India’s premier institutions of legal education, committed to academic excellence, interdisciplinary research, and innovation. To further this vision, the GNLU Legal Incubation Council (GLIC) – a Section 8 Company promoted by GNLU – serves as an incubation platform for legal-tech and interdisciplinary ventures. GLIC has supported and mentored 35+ start-ups and Proofs of Concept, offering mentorship, funding access, and entrepreneurial guidance.

About the Opportunity

The National Legal Ideathon 3.0 is GLIC’s flagship ideathon and prototype competition, fostering meaningful innovation in the legal domain. It provides a platform for students and aspiring entrepreneurs to present actionable ideas and solutions to contemporary legal and allied field challenges.

Participants can register under two tracks:

• Ideation Track – for original, actionable ideas and proposals.
• Prototype Track – for demonstrable products or solutions (tech-enabled or otherwise).

Theme

Participants may submit entries under diverse themes, including but not limited to:

• Access to Justice
• Digitized Judiciary & Online Dispute Resolution (ODR)
• AI & Data-Driven Justice
• Legal Compliance Tools
• ESG & IP Tech
• Legal Education Technology

Eligibility

The competition is open to undergraduate and postgraduate students across all disciplines, aged 16 years and above. Team size: minimum 2 – maximum 3 members.

Registration Fee

Ideation Track: ₹1500 per team (Early Bird – ₹1300 for first 10 teams)

Prototype Track: ₹2500 per team (Early Bird – ₹2100 for first 10 teams)

(Accommodation charges are separate and not included in the registration fee.)

Prizes

• Prizes worth ₹1.25 Lakh will be awarded, making this one of the largest cash prize pools for a legal innovation competition in India:
• Prototype Track: Winner – ₹50,000 | Runner-up – ₹35,000
• Ideation Track: Winner – ₹25,000 | Runner-up – ₹15,000
