About the Opportunity

The National Drafting Championship (Virtual) 2026 is a national-level academic competition organized by the Pro Bono Club of Asian Law College under the aegis of the Department of Justice, Ministry of Law & Justice, Government of India. The Championship aims to promote analytical thinking, structured writing, research aptitude, and problem-solving skills through five distinct segments: Contract Drafting, Treaty Drafting, Legislative Drafting, Policy Drafting, and Essay Writing.

Theme

The Championship focuses on contemporary legal, governance, policy, international relations, and societal issues through practical drafting and academic writing exercises. Specific propositions/themes are provided separately for each competition segment.

Eligibility

  • Contract Drafting, Treaty Drafting, Legislative Drafting & Policy Drafting: Open to students currently enrolled in any recognized college or university in India pursuing graduation or post-graduation programmes.
  • Essay Writing: Open exclusively to students studying in Classes XI and XII.
  • Co-authorship of up to two participants is permitted.
  • Cross-institutional teams are allowed.
  • Participants may register for a maximum of two competition segments.

Registration Fee

Drafting Segments (Contract/Treaty/Legislative/Policy)

  • Individual Registration (Single Author): ₹500
  • Team Registration (Co-Authors): ₹700

Essay Writing Segment

  • Individual Registration (Single Author): ₹300
  • Team Registration (Co-Authors): ₹500

Prizes

  • Winner (Each Segment): Cash Prize of ₹5,000, Winner’s Trophy, and Certificate of Merit.
  • Runner-Up (Each Segment): Certificate of Runner-Up.
  • All Participants: E-Certificate of Participation.

  • Registration Opens: 15th June 2026
  • Last Date of Registration: 01st July 2026
  • Last Date of Submission: 15th July 2026
  • Result Declaration: 20th July 2026

1. Fill out the registration form.
2. Select the desired competition segment(s) (maximum two).
3. Provide participant details.
4. Upload payment receipt with transaction ID.
5. Upload a valid student ID card.
6. Submit the registration form.
7. Receive a Team Code via email within two days.
8. Submit the final draft using the submission link shared along with the Team Code.
