Seva Mandal Education Society‘s Smt. Kamalaben Gambhirchand Shah Law School was constituted in the year 2008. The Institute is affiliated to SNDT University. Having strong centric goals, since inception, the Institute is focused on achieving women’s autonomy by imparting deep knowledge of Law and a good value system.

In addition, We at Smt. Kamalaben Gambhirchand Shah Law School have been successfully organizing National Moot Court Competitions for the past 6 years. About the event

The annual moot court competition is an event to be noticed by law students. It is the perfect opportunity to display your legal skills in front of a panel of esteemed judges. The competition is open to teams of two law students from any accredited law school. Each team must prepare and submit an appellate brief and participate in oral arguments. The competition takes place over the course of two days, with the finals being held on the last day.

 The winning team will receive a cash prize, and all participants will receive a certificate of participation. This prestigious event is a great way to gain real-world experience and build your resume. You will have the chance to meet and interact with fellow legal enthusiasts.

Description of Moot Court Competition

This moot court competition aims to provide law students with an opportunity to showcase their skills in front of a panel of esteemed judges. The competition will consist of two rounds: a preliminary round and a final round. In the preliminary round, each team will argue one side of a case before a panel of three judges. The teams that win their preliminary rounds will advance to the final round, where they will argue before a panel of judges. The winning team from the final round will be awarded. This is an excellent opportunity for law students to Showcase their advocacy skills and make valuable connections with legal community members. We encourage all interested law students to register for this exciting competition.

Eligibility criteria for interested teams

  • Bona-fide students pursuing a Law Degree Course under 3 years or 5 years integrated course during the academic year 2022-2023 from any Institute recognized by the Bar Council of India are eligible to participate. The students must be deputed by their respective colleges.

Rules & Guidelines for Teams Who Choose to Participate

Here are the rules and guidelines for teams who choose to participate:

  • Each team must consist of two law students.
  • The competition will take place over the course of two days. Day one will consist of the preliminary rounds, and day two will include the semifinals and finals. 
  • Preliminary rounds will be conducted in a traditional moot court format, with each team arguing both sides of the case.
  • The semifinals and finals will be conducted in a modified moot court format, with each team arguing one side of the case, followed by a rebuttal from the opposing team.
  • Teams will be judged on their legal research, argumentation, and presentation skills. 6. Cash prizes will be awarded to the top three teams in the competition.
  • All decisions of the judges are final and binding on all participants.
  •  The Competition dates are 8th April 2023 and 9th April 2023.

  • The language of the competition shall be English.
  • The dress code is Black and White formal for Males &
  • Black and White western / Indian formals for Females.
  • Advocate’s gown and the white band are prohibited.
  • Team composition:
  • Each participating college/ university/ Law School may send
  • only one team.
  • Each team shall have a maximum of 2 (of two) members. Both
  • members shall present in the capacity of Mooter. This
  • number cannot be modified under any circumstances.
  • Each team will be provided with a unique team code by draw
  • of lots to be held on 8th April 2023

Registration Process & Deadlines

  • Participants must note that only 20 teams will be registered to participate in the competition. The entry will be accepted on a first-come-first-serve basis. The Registration Form is attached herewith to this invitation.
  • The participants shall register their entries by emailing duly filled and scanned Registration Form on or before 20th March 2023.
  • The registration fee is Rs. 3000/- per team. Payable to College Account (Please note those who wish to seek accommodation will be charged Rs. 4000/- in addition to the Registration fees, i.e. those who wish to take accommodation must pay Rs. 4000/- separately for given account details.
  • The first 20 teams shall receive a confirmation mail on their selection for participation.
  • The registration fees (mandatory) and the accommodation sum (optional) shall be payable online in favour of Smt. K.G. SHAH LAW SCHOOL. (The payment details are attached with the registration link attached below.)
  • The names of participants shall remain the same after the receipt of the Registration Form. Any request made after submission shall be at the Organizers’ sole discretion.
