The Centre for Training and Research in Commercial Regulations (CTRCR) at Maharashtra National Law University Mumbai, focuses on the dissemination of knowledge relating to Corporate and Commercial Law in both domestic and international contexts. The Centre aims to bring together practitioners, academicians, and students to promote research, dialogue, and critical engagement with commercial law and practice. Through its flagship initiatives such as the National Corporate Due Diligence Competition and academic workshops, CTRCR seeks to strengthen the interface between legal education and the profession.

About the Comeptiton

CTRCR is pleased to announce the second edition of the MNLU-M National Corporate Client Counselling Competition (NCCCC), 2026. Following the success of its inaugural edition, judged by professionals from leading law firms including SAM, CAM, and Khaitan and Co., the competition returns with a renewed focus on real-world corporate lawyering. The competition places participants in the role of corporate legal advisors, requiring them to counsel clients on complex commercial disputes and transactions, analyse legal risks, and demonstrate effective client handling and strategic decision-making skills.

Each team shall consist of 2 counsels. Selected students from Maharashtra National Law University, Mumbai, shall role-play as clients in all rounds of the competition.

Theme

The 2026 edition scales this experience further, challenging 40 teams to navigate complex scenarios across a diverse spectrum of laws:

  • Company and Contract Law
  • Insolvency and Bankruptcy
  • Banking, Finance, and Securities Law
  • Capital Markets

Eligibility

The competition is open to all students enrolled in a 5-year integrated law programme or a 3-year LLB programme at a recognised institution.

Registration Fee

The registration fee for participation in the Online Preliminary Rounds is INR 4,500 per team. An additional fee of INR 5,500 per team shall be payable only by the four teams that qualify for the Offline Advanced Rounds, which would be inclusive of the accommodation.

Prizes

  • Winner: INR 20,000 along with Internship Opportunities
  • Runners Up: INR 10,000 along with Internship Opportunities
  • Best Counsel: INR 10,000 along with Internship Opportunities

Important Dates

  • Registrations Open: 7th January, 2026
  • Registrations Close: 15th February, 2026
  • Preliminary Rounds Online: 27th and 28th February, 2026
  • Advanced Rounds Offline: 11th April, 2026

Registration Process

Registration shall be completed through the provisional registration link shared by the Organising Committee. Institutional teams, as well as Open (Non-University) teams, are eligible to register.

Institutional teams shall be issued the final registration form upon successful completion of the registration process.

Mixed teams and open category teams shall be granted provisional registration based on the availability of slots, with final confirmation communicated separately via email after evaluation.
