About the Job

MB Jain and Partners is hiring a Litigation Advocate.

Eligibility

• 3 or 3 plus years of experience in a full-time role.
• The Advocate should be a resident of Mumbai (preferably from western line) 
• You have worked independently or under a senior in litigation for a period of at least 3 years or more;
• You have independently drafted legal notices and replies to legal notices;
• You are well versed with and have independently (or with minimal supervision) drafted civil litigation petitions and other documents including plaints, written statements, supplementary affidavits, counter affidavits, interlocutory applications, etc.
• You have time and again researched substantive and procedural laws, and through the maze of case laws, to arrive at a clear litigation strategy;
• You have managed interns or associates, supervised their work, and mentored them;
• You have excellent English language skills – we cannot take forward applications that have grammatical errors.
• You are confident about your delivery capabilities and are up for the challenge of digesting a mountain of documents sent by clients quickly and delivering documents within deadlines;
• You love guiding other young lawyers and helping them to learn hands-on legal skills.
• This role is not suitable for freshers, in-house lawyers or transaction lawyers.

Responsibilities

• Drafting and reviewing pleadings, discovery requests, responses, motions, briefs etc;
• Assisting in filing civil complaints before various courts in India;
• Conducting research in relevant laws, regulations, and judicial decisions and assisting with the implementation of strategies for various cases;
• Managing and organizing case files, work allocation, and work deliveries while keeping track of the time.
