About the Journal

The ‘Legal Wisdom’ Journal, is an annual, blind peer-reviewed/ referred journal of the Siddhartha Law College, Dehradun. The Journals aim to foster communication amongst scholars, provide a proving ground for practical and theoretical ideas, and document emerging legal knowledge.

The objective of this Journal is to contribute original, outstanding, and socially relevant research to the Field of Law. It provides a platform for scholars, lawyers, practitioners, research scholars, academicians, and law students to share their views and make an effective contribution to legal academia.

About the Editor-in-Chief

Hon’ble Justice V.K. Maheshwari (Retd) (Director, Siddhartha Law College, Dehradun) has more than 35 years of experience in Judicial Services. He was promoted to District and Session Judge on 03/03/2003 and was posted in District Chamoli. Appointed as Registrar General of the High Court of Uttarakhand at Nainital on 29/06/2004. He got retired on 31/03/2009.

Sir got selected in U.P-P.C.S (J) in the 1975 batch and secured the second position in his batch. He held different posts in District Moradabad, Farukhabad, Mainpuri, Roorkee, Bareilly, Dehradun, Kanpur, and Nainital.

About the Editor

Prof (Dr.) Sharafat Ali (Principal, Siddhartha Law College, Dehradun) has more than 19 years of teaching and administrative experience and has published research papers in National and International Journals on current and relevant topics.

Eligibility

Students from Law pursuing bachelors or masters in Law, Ph.D. Scholars, Academicians, practicing lawyers, and advocates may send their submissions.

Theme

The Journal does not restrict its scope to a specific theme. However, the authors must ensure that the research paper addresses a contemporary legal or socio-legal issue.

The topic must be of relevance in the present time and the authors must show originality in their approach to dealing with the issue at hand.

The contemporary issues and the challenges before the Indian legal system need to be resolved.

Submission Guidelines

  • The submission must be in English.
  • Word Limit: Submissions should be in the following word limits (Exclusive of  footnotes):
    • Research papers (3,000- 5,000 words)
    • Case Comment (2000-3000 words)
    • Book reviews (1000-2000 words)
  • Submission must be accompanied by an Abstract of not more than 300 words.
  • Co-authorship is allowed with a maximum of two authors.
  • Submissions should be in Times New Roman font, Title size 14, size 12, 1.5 line spacing, justified text, and 1-inch margins on all sides.
  • Footnotes should be in Times New Roman font of size 10 with 1.0 line spacing. 
  • Endnotes are not allowed.
  • The citations shall be in conformity with the ILI Rules of footnoting available here.
  • Submissions must be sent to [email protected] on or before the deadline in MS Word format.
  • The name, affiliation and designation, mailing address, mobile number, and e-mail address of the author (and the corresponding author, if more than one author) must be mentioned in a separate MS Word document, in the same mail.
  • A hard copy of the certificate of publication will be provided without any fee.
  • All submissions shall go through a plagiarism check. The similarity percentage should be within UGC guidelines.

  • The last date for submissions of full papers is November 10, 2023.
