About the Organisation
National Law University Odisha (NLUO) was established in 2009 under the National Law University Orissa Act, 2008. Within a short span, NLUO has emerged as an institution committed to imparting socially relevant legal education through academic rigour, research, and holistic development. The University promotes intellectual growth, leadership, and professional excellence through a dynamic curriculum and a vibrant academic environment.
The Competitive Examinations Guidance Committee (CEGC) is a student-run committee of NLUO that aims to cultivate and strengthen a culture of competitive examinations within the University. The Committee provides structured guidance and academic support to students aspiring for various competitive examinations in India and abroad, with a special emphasis on law-related careers, including the Civil Services.
About the Event
The Law for Civil Services & Answer Writing Competition 2026 is an academic initiative comprising two segments:
1. An Online Interactive Session on “Law for Civil Services”, and
2. An Online Answer Writing Competition.
The interactive session is designed to provide participants with a structured understanding of the UPSC Law Optional, covering preparation strategy, syllabus orientation, and answer writing approach. The answer writing competition is conducted in a time-bound manner and aims to replicate the pattern and standards of the UPSC Law Optional Mains Examination, enabling participants to assess their preparation under exam-like conditions.

- Open to law students, law graduates, and civil services aspirants.
- Participation is open to NLUO and Non-NLUO candidates.

Formatting Guidelines
- Answers must be written in accordance with the UPSC Law Optional examination pattern.
- Detailed instructions regarding word limits, structure, and presentation shall be communicated to registered participants prior to the competition.
Selection Guidelines
Submissions shall be evaluated on the basis of:
- Understanding and application of legal principles
- Analytical depth and clarity of reasoning
- Structure and coherence of answers
- Overall presentation and relevance
The evaluation criteria shall align with the standards followed in the UPSC Law Optional Mains Examination.
Submission Guidelines
- The question paper shall be shared with registered participants on the day of the competition.
- The test shall be conducted in a time-bound online format.
- Submission instructions, format, and deadlines shall be communicated to participants after the completion of registrations.

Registration Process
Participants must complete the registration by filling out the official registration form (or scanning the QR code provided in the brochure). Registration is mandatory to participate in both the interactive session and the answer writing competition.
Payment of Registration Fee (ICICI Bank Collect)
Non-NLUO participants are required to pay the registration fee of ₹119/- through the ICICI Bank Eazypay (Collect) Facility.
