About the Law College Dehradun

Law College Dehradun has contributed towards legal education in all aspects of the country since its inception in 2002 and inauguration by his Excellency Shri Surjeet Singh Barnala, the then governor of Uttarakhand. The college provides research-based work and opportunities through various competitions at different levels that are aimed at striking a balance between legal theory and practice which has also set a paradigm for legal education in the nation. The college holds a sought-after position of being one of the best law schools in the country with scholarly and experience-rich faculty. 

About the AARAMBH

Aarambh- The Debating Society is non-debatably, one of the most passionate and dedicated team of the college. One of the foremost aims of the society is to develop and foster amongst its members qualities like team spirit, diligence, dedication and commitment. It also ensures personality enrichment and exposure in numerous ways. Students are encouraged to participate in events all over the country, where they get exposure to various formats of debates. The Debating Society aims to identify students who are interested in participating in debates to represent the college at state and national level competitions. All the activities undertaken by the society are designed to serve as a platform for students to develop effective communication skills and facilitate opportunities to inculcate managerial capabilities and organizational skills. The topics and issues chosen for various debates and discussions are selected, keeping in mind, the need of a law student to be in touch with relevant social issues. Although the Society is represented by a core group of office-bearers, every student of the Law College is a member of the Debating Society. The Society has organized many successful programs which includes annual National Debate Competitions.

About the event

Debate is a method of formally presenting an argument in a disciplined manner. Logical consistency, factual actual accuracy and some degree of emotional appeal to the audience are elements in debating, where one side often prevails over the other party by presenting a superior “context” and/or framework of the issue. The outcome of a debate may depend upon consensus or some formal way of reaching a resolution, rather than the objective facts. The Concurs De Debat is a National Level Conventional Debate organized by Aarambh the Debating Society, to effectively broaden the scope of orating skills among all the participants. The debate has previously witnessed one of the best speakers all across the nation. 

Registration

Registration Fees:

1. Fees for one team registering from one institution= Rs. 500
2. Fees for Two Teams registering from one institution = Rs. 800
   The participants must register through a single registration form. A team of two members speaking in Hindi along with a team of two members speaking in English will fill a single form providing details of all the four candidates of the two teams by paying
   a fee of 800 Rs. For two teams.
   In case, where only one team is registering from an institution, the form shall be filled by the two candidates of the same team after paying a registration fee of 500 Rs. After paying the registrations fee, the participants are required to upload the screen shot of the payment in the registration form. Upon successful registration, a confirmation E-mail shall be sent to the participants.
