About the Institute

Founded in alignment with the vision of Dr. Karsanbhai K Patel in 2007, the Institute of Law at Nirma University (ILNU) focuses on bringing about a paradigm shift in the delivery of legal education in the country. Institute of Law aims to add new dimensions to legal education by incorporating international standards and providing an environment for innovation and holistic development. Embodying the principles of justice education, excellence, and professionalism, ILNU imparts quality legal education that has produced lawyers, leaders, and policymakers who have carved a distinct niche over the years.

About the Centre for Environmental Law of the Institute of Law

The Centre for Environmental Law of the Institute of Law envisages a journey towards Environmental sustainability and equability. The Centre was established on 17th August 2013. The Centre aims to create environmental sensitivity among the students, society, and stakeholders. It aims to promote and encourage research in the field of environment to bridge the gap between the law and policy and their implementation in society to achieve social justice by encouraging the protection of the right to the environment. It also emphasizes spreading awareness among the people about their fundamental duty to protect the environment.

About the Journal

Journal of Centre for Environmental Law, Institute of Law, Nirma University (ISSN: 2456 – 2246, 2020) is a biannual; Peer reviewed journal run by the CEL, ILNU.  

The Board of Editors of the Journal of Centre for Environmental Law is pleased to invite original, unpublished manuscripts for publication in the upcoming Special Issue on Climate Change and Law.

Suggested Sub-Themes

 The topic of the submission should be within the ambit of one of the following sub-themes:

  • Climate Change and Economics
  • Climate Change and Design, Technology & Innovation. 
  • Climate Change and Business & Trade: Operations and Management
  • Climate Change and Law, Policy and Governance
  • Climate Change and Geopolitical issues (Armed conflicts, wars & refugees)

Eligibility

Entries from the student community, academia, researchers, and other professionals, preferably from Law, Social Sciences & allied disciplines, are invited for submissions. 

Submission Guidelines

  • All submissions must be accompanied by a cover letter as a separate attachment stating the title, author’s full name, university and year of study and the author’s contact details. It should also declare that the paper has not been published or sent for publication elsewhere. The cover letter should contain the details mentioned above and not the manuscript.
  • Submissions must be in MS Word.
  • Format:  Body: Times New Roman, font size 12, 1.5 spacing, justified, with a margin of left 1.5 inches and suitable 1.0 inch, top 1 inch and bottom 1 inch. The first line of the paragraph should not be indented.  
  • Footnotes: Times New Roman, font size 10. Substantive footnotes are accepted.
  • Citation Style– OSCOLA 4th Edition
  • Word Limit (including footnotes):
    • Research Article- 4000-6000 words
    • Case Study- 2500-3000 words
    • Policy Analysis-3000-4000 words
    • Case Comment- 1500-3000 words

However, the Editorial Board reserves the right to change these guidelines.

Abstract – Every manuscript should have an abstract not exceeding 250 words.

Publication Policy

The journal is guided by a well-defined ‘Ethical policy’ which gives no scope for plagiarized submission. Thus, authors are requested to strictly follow the plagiarism policy for the academic submissions published by UGC. The submissions must be original and should not be under consideration in any other journal or for any publication. Articles with plagiarism and copyright issues are liable to be rejected immediately. The Journal is not subject to any liability which may arise in this regard, and the decision of the Board of Editors shall be final. 

Submission of work must be made to the Journal of the Centre for Environmental Law (JCEL), which indicates that the authors grant exclusive permission to JCEL to publish and reproduce their work in all streams of media. Such right is subject to the doctrine of fair use as followed under the law relating to Intellectual Property Rights and subject to the entitlements of the author.

The editors reserve the right to delete or edit any article or part thereof whose content is found to be offensive, defamatory, outrightly unethical, or if it is suggestive of discrimination in any form, racism, sexual, gender, religious, illegal, or terror activities, and any other. The article is rejected if its content is likely to offend or provoke the reader’s personal, religious, or political sentiments.

All submissions will be scrutinized through peer review, and the authors will be notified of their acceptance or rejection. 

Publication Fee

There is no publication fee.
