About The NLSIU, Bangalore
NLSIU was the first National Law University established in India in 1986. The premier law school was set up with a mission to pioneer legal education reforms, and to anchor the transformation of the Indian legal system through research and policy interventions. Consequently, the NLSIU was one of the first institutions in the country to introduce the five-year integrated law degree at the undergraduate level with the commencement of the first batch in 1988.

About the Lecture
As a part of the Friday Lecture Series, the student organization invites you to a discussion on the judgment rendered in Vikash Kumar v. UPSC and Ors. on 11th February 2021. The judgment recognizes and amplifies the right to reasonable accommodation and roots it in the constitution. It is reflective of the metamorphosis of the disability rights jurisprudence of India, which is why it is imperative to discuss its implications and the gaps that are yet to be filled.
The discussion will be led by Prof. Rahul Singh, Ms. Sanchita Ain, and Prof. Sanjay Jain.
About the Speakers
Prof. Rahul Singh
Professor Rahul Singh is currently a (senior) Associate Professor of Law at NLSIU. Professor Singh teaches competition law, law-and-economics, regulation, WTO, and jurisprudence. As a visiting professor, he has lectured at Harvard Law School (USA), University of California at Berkeley (USA), University of Florida Levin College of Law (USA), University of Oxford (UK), Deakin University (Australia), and the Indian Institute of Management Bangalore (India).
Ms. Sanchita Ain
Ms. Ain is an Advocate-on-Record in the Supreme Court of India. She holds the prestigious LLM degree in International Human Rights Law with distinction from the University of Essex. She is an I Can Lead Fellow, India’s first national leadership program for women with disabilities. She assisted the court during the course of hearings in Vikash Kumar v. UPSC.
Prof. Dr. Sanjay Jain
Prof Dr. Jain is an associate professor at ILS, Pune. He has expertise in Comparative Constitutional Law, International Economic Law, and disability rights jurisprudence. His scholarship has attained international and national recognition. He has authored over 5 books and numerous articles on constitutional law and disability law.
