About Dr. Ram Manohar Lohiya National Law University
Dr. Ram Manohar Lohiya National Law University, Lucknow, was established by an Act of theGovernment of Uttar Pradesh in 2005. It came into being on the 4th of January, 2006, to meet newchallenges in the legal field and to strengthen the vision laid out by the establishment of the firstNational Law School in the country. The University currently offers PhD program in law, socialsciences, and humanities, a one-year LL.M. program, and a five-year B.A. LL.B. (Hons.) integratedprogram.
About the DPIIT Ipr Chair, RMLNLU
The Department for Promotion of Industries and Internal Trade (DPIIT), Ministry of Commerce andIndustry, Government of India, launched a Scheme for Pedagogy & Research in IPRs for HolisticEducation & Academia (SPRIHA) in the year 2016 under which IPR Chairs have been set up in selectuniversities and academic institutes. This was in accordance with the National IPR Policy launchedby the Government of India in 2016, which proclaims, as one of the objectives under section 7.2 as,“Strengthen IP Chairs in educational institutes of higher learning to provide quality teaching andresearch, develop teaching capacity and curricula and evaluate their work on performance basedcriteria.”
About the Centre
The Intellectual Property – Policy Research and Ecosystem Centre for Innovation, Science, andEntrepreneurship (IP-PRECISE) serves as a strategic think tank focused on fostering innovation,intellectual property (IP), and entrepreneurship. IP-PRECISE is dedicated to advancing the promotion and integration of IP, innovation, andentrepreneurial initiatives. It collaborates closely with key institutions such as the Department forPromotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DIPP), the Council of Science and Technology, the IPOffice, and other relevant governmental bodies.
The Centre is directed by Dr. Vikas Bhati, whose leadership ensures the alignment of IP-PRECISE’sactivities with national and regional innovation goals.
Details of the Event
The Faculty Development Program (FDP) on “Intellectual Property Rights” aims to equip educators,entrepreneurs, and innovators with in-depth knowledge and practical expertise in IntellectualProperty Rights (IPR). This program emphasizes the pivotal role of IPR in fostering innovation anddriving success, particularly for startups, by focusing on areas such as Digital IP, trademarks, andcopyrights. These elements are indispensable for safeguarding creativity and securing a competitiveedge in today’s dynamic markets.
Participants will gain actionable insights into formulating effective IPR strategies that align withtheir organizational goals, ensuring protection against infringement and optimizing intellectualassets for sustainable growth. The program includes expert-led sessions designed to provide anuanced understanding of IPR frameworks, legal provisions, and their practical applications.
Recognizing the critical need to promote IPR awareness and its role in innovation, the DPIIT IPRChair at Dr. Ram Manohar Lohiya National Law University (RMLNLU), Lucknow, is organizing this FDP from March 21st to 27th , 2025. This initiative underscores the importance of capacity buildingand knowledge dissemination in the field of Intellectual Property Rights.
