About the Job

Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. is seeking applications for the position of Executive – Trademark & Litigation in its India Business division. The role is based at the company’s corporate office in Mumbai and focuses on trademark, copyright, design, and litigation-related matters.

The Executive – Trade Mark & Litigation will be a member of the Trademark department and will work under the supervision of the Head of Trademark and the Lead Trademark. The role involves supporting trademark clearance, prosecution, brand registration, renewals, litigation, domain name misuse matters, and brand protection initiatives, including participation in seizure operations involving trademark infringement.

Eligibility

  • Bachelor’s degree in Law, Intellectual Property, or a related field.
  • Specialisation or knowledge in Trademark and Intellectual Property Rights (IPR).
  • 4–5 years of experience in trademark law, brand protection, or intellectual property management.
  • Sound knowledge of trademark laws and regulations, copyright issues, and design protection.
  • Proficiency in conducting trademark searches and managing trademark applications.
  • Strong organisational and multitasking skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively within a team and collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders.
  • Detail-oriented with a focus on accuracy and compliance.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the Head of Trademark in developing and implementing trademark, copyright, and design strategies, policies, and procedures.
  • Conduct trademark, copyright, and design searches and clearance activities to assess brand availability and infringement risks.
  • Prepare and file trademark, domain name, and copyright applications in compliance with legal requirements.
  • Monitor trademark, copyright, and design renewals and coordinate maintenance activities.
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders on trademark, copyright, and design litigation matters.
  • Assist in managing trademark disputes, court litigation, and domain name misuse cases, and implement protective measures.
  • Identify and report violations of trademark regulations and manual provisions.
  • Communicate updates received from the Marketing and other departments to the Head of Trademark.
  • Contribute towards achieving departmental goals and priorities while ensuring effective resource utilisation.
  • Support the implementation of trademark strategies, policies, and procedures aligned with organisational objectives.
  • Bring trademark violations requiring intervention to the attention of the department head.
  • Guide the team on legal procedures.
