Maharashtra National Law University Mumbai, established under the Maharashtra Act VI of 2014, is one of India’s premier National Law Universities. The Act envisaged establishing the National Law University in Maharashtra to impart advanced legal education and promote society-oriented research in legal studies for the advancement of the societal life of the people in the country.

About Justice M.L. Pendse Chair in Environmental Law

Due to an observable lack of legal academia dedicated to Environmental Law in India, the Justice M. L. Pendse Chair in Environmental Law aims to foster legal environmental education by promoting and undertaking research activities exclusively in the field, in collaboration with national and international stakeholders.

About the Upcoming Edited Book:

  • The Chair is pleased to announce its edited book on ‘Environmental Law, Policy, and Compliance’.
  • Top papers from this call will be published in the edited book (with an ISSN) by our publishing partners – Bharat Law House.
  • Prof (Dr.) Dilip Ukey (Vice-Chancellor, MNLU Mumbai) and Ms. Shweta Bhuyan (Research Assistant and Ph.D. Scholar, MNLU Mumbai) are the editors of this book.

Themes

Any paper related to environmental law and the relevant policy framework is acceptable.

Eligibility

Submissions are in invited from:

  • Students (UG and PG)
  • Research / Ph.D. scholars
  • Academicians
  • Lawyers
  • Working Professionals

Mode of Submission

The submissions need to be emailed in doc./docx. format to [email protected].

Submission & Formatting Guidelines

  • Co-authorship: Up to 2 authors
  • Word Limit: 3000-5000 words (inclusive of footnotes)
  • Citation Style: OSCOLA (4th ed)
  • Plagiarism / Similarity Index Ceiling: up to 10%
  • Main Body: Times New Roman with font size being 12 and 1.5 line spacing
  • Footnote: Times New Roman with font size being 10 and 1.0 line spacing

Deadline

The last date for submission of papers is 15th July 2025.
