By emphasizing both theoretical and practical aspects of law, the Department aims to create competent professionals equipped to address the pressing legal and social issues of the nation.

About the Book Project

Recognizing that the Indian Constitution is not merely a legal document but also a vehicle for ensuring justice—social, economic, and political—the Department of Law, Fakir Mohan University, is undertaking the publication of a book on Constitution and Social Justice.

While a vast body of literature exists on constitutional law, the focus on social justice as a constitutional mandate often remains fragmented and underexplored. This book aspires to fill that gap by exploring critical themes, contemporary challenges, and practical solutions that can guide policy, judiciary, and academia in furthering the constitutional promise of justice.

Themes

There is no fixed theme. However, the chapters should address issues concerning:

  • Constitutional principles and their role in advancing social justice.
  • Emerging jurisprudence on equality, liberty, and fraternity.
  • Social justice in relation to marginalized and vulnerable groups.
  •  Contemporary constitutional challenges impacting distributive justice.
  • Comparative perspectives on Constitution and social justice.

(Contributors are encouraged to address other related issues as well.)
