Maharashtra National Law University, Nagpur (NLU, Nagpur) was established by the Maharashtra State Government under the Maharashtra National Law University Act (Maharashtra Act No. VI of 2014) as the nineteenth National Law University of the country. Nestled within the suburbs of Nagpur with a world-class infrastructure on a rapidly developing campus spanning 60 acres, the University takes great pride in its pedagogy and systemic focus on the all-round development of each student.

About the Debate Competition

The Orange Capital Debate a British Parliamentary Debate scheduled for July 26th to 28th, 2024. The Core Adjudicator Panel comprises Adhiraj Singh, Jibran Khan, Sukanya Nema, Ashay Maske, and Snehal Thakur. As the Adjudicator policy is N=N, each registering team comprises 2 speakers and 1 adjudicator.

This debate competition, aptly named for its association with Orange City, is sure to be a tremendous opportunity to showcase exceptional oratory skills and engage in thought-provoking discussions. Participants will have the chance to challenge their perspectives, connect with like-minded peers, and gain invaluable experience in the art of debate.

Eligibility

This competition is open to any individual who is pursuing/completed an undergraduate or postgraduate from any university recognized by the UGC. Cross University teams are allowed. Open for students of 11th and 12th grade.

Cash Prizes

  • Winner – Rs 21,000/-
  • Runner-up – Rs 14,000/-
  • Best Judge – Rs. 7,000/-
  • Second Best Judge- Rs. 4,000/-
  • Third Best Judge – Rs. 3,000/-
  • Best Speaker – Rs. 1,000

Important Dates

  • Phase II registrations – 10th to 15th July
  • Registration ends on July 15, 2024.
  • Inaugural Ceremony and Preliminary Rounds – 26th July
  • Quarter Finals and Break Night – 27th July
  • Semi-Finals and Grand Finale – 28th July
  • Prize Distribution and Valedictory Ceremony – 28th July
