About the Opportunity
The Animal Law Cell, Faculty of Law, University of Delhi, cordially invites the legal fraternity to an academic conference titled “FROM SILENCE TO SENTIENCE: REIMAGINING JUSTICE FOR FARMED ANIMALS”.
“Silence to Sentience” represents the transformative journey from ignoring the suffering of farmed animals to recognising their capacity to feel, think, and deserve justice. This conference aims to build a just, ethical, and sustainable society where every sentient life is protected, while equipping participants with insights and networks that can enhance career opportunities in animal law, policy, and sustainable food sectors.

Distinguished Panel of Experts
- Advocate Varnika Singh, Legal Head at Federation of Indian Animal Protection Organizations (FIAPO). With 15 years of legal experience, she holds LL.M.s in Animal Law from Lewis & Clark Law School, Portland, and National Law University, Bhopal. Her distinguished career includes major litigation victories on street dog welfare, illegal dog fighting, Jallikattu, and circus animal bans, alongside significant contributions to policy reform, legal training, and advocacy.
- Ms. Astha Gaur, Senior Policy Specialist and Regulatory Affairs Specialist at The Good Food Institute India. She leads cutting-edge efforts to develop science-based regulations for smart protein, working directly with FSSAI and other regulatory bodies to shape policies that balance innovation with safety. Her work involves guiding startups, drafting policy recommendations, and creating accessible resources that bridge scientific progress with comprehensive legal frameworks for sustainable food systems.
- Professor (Dr.) Anju Vali Tikoo, Dean of Faculty of Law, University of Delhi, providing institutional leadership and academic perspective.
