About Royal Scriptum

Royal  Scriptum is the flagship e-magazine of the Royal Moot Court Society, under the aegis of Royal School of Law and Administration, The Assam Royal Global University, Guwahati, established to encourage scholarly engagement and intellectual contribution from students and young legal thinkers. The objective of this initiative is to provide a space where emerging voices can critically examine, analyse, and reflect upon various dimensions of Constitutional Law and current legal developments in the country.

Participants are invited to submit academic writings including articles, essays, or opinion pieces rooted in constitutional discourse, contemporary legal challenges, and evolving jurisprudence, along with creative submissions which include photographs, paintings and poems.

Before proceeding, all participants are required to carefully read and adhere to the submission guidelines, formatting requirements, and ethical standards outlined in the rules and regulations.

It looks forward to receiving thoughtful, well-researched, and original contributions that reflect academic rigor and constitutional understanding.

Theme

“Constitutional Equilibrium — Balancing Liberty with Security”

This theme explores the ongoing tension between individual freedoms and the State’s responsibility to maintain security and public order.

Illustrative Focus Areas:

  • Surveillance & Right to Privacy
  • Anti-terror laws vs. Due Process
  • Restrictions on Freedom of Speech in emergencies
  • Judiciary’s role in safeguarding liberties

Theme for Creative Submission

“Two Indias” — representing contrasting socio-economic realities, inequalities, modern vs. traditional lifestyles, urban-rural divides, privilege vs. deprivation, and dualities that coexist within India.

Rules and Regulation

I. General Submission Guidelines

(Applicable only for Academic Submissions)

  1. Eligibility: Submissions are open to all individuals—students (UG/PG), researchers, academicians, and legal practitioners. Co-authorship is permitted up to a maximum of two authors.
  2. Originality: All submissions must be original and unpublished. Simultaneous submission to any other publication is strictly prohibited.
  3. Language: English only.
  4. Formatting:
    • File Format: Microsoft Word (.doc/.docx)
    • Font: Times New Roman, Size 12
    • Line Spacing: 1.5
    • Margins: 1 inch on all sides
    • Citation Style: Bluebook (21st Edition) footnotes only. No endnotes or bibliography.
  5. Anonymity: The main document must not contain any personal details of the author(s). All identification details shall be submitted only through the designated Google Form.
  6. Plagiarism: Acceptable similarity index ≤ 10%. Anything exceeding this limit shall be rejected.

II. Core Theme (For Academic Submissions)

Core Theme I: Constitutional Equilibrium — Balancing Liberty with Security

This theme explores the ongoing tension between individual freedoms and the State’s responsibility to maintain security and public order.

Word Limit: 2,000 – 3,000 words (exclusive of footnotes)

Nature of Submission: Analytical, thoroughly researched, and solution-oriented.

III. Mandatory Submission Guidelines (For Academic Submissions)

  1. A plagiarism report must be submitted along with the article.
  2. The article file must be renamed as: Author Name_ Institution Name
  3. The plagiarism report must be renamed as: Plagiarism Report_ Author Name_ Institution Name
  4. Mode of Submission: Only through Google Forms. Submissions via email or any alternative medium shall not be considered.
  5. Deadline: 15-01-2026.

    IV. Rules for Creative Submissions

    (Photography, Painting & Poem — Not more than 300 words)

    1. Theme Adherence: The submission must portray “Two Indias” — representing contrasting socio-economic realities, inequalities, modern vs. traditional lifestyles, urban-rural divides, privilege vs. deprivation, and dualities that coexist within India.
    2. Categories:
      • Painting / Illustration: Digital or scanned physical artwork (300 DPI minimum, JPEG/PNG format)
      • Photography: Original photographs in JPEG format
      • Poem: Maximum 300 words, English only
    3. Technical Specifications (Visual Entries):
      • Minimum Resolution: 1920 × 1080 pixels
      • Maximum File Size: 10 MB
    4. Mandatory Caption/Statement (Separate File):
      • Title of Submission
      • Artist/Author Name & Affiliation
      • Caption/Statement (150–250 words explaining interpretation of theme)
    5. Rights & Licensing: Submitters grant Royal Scriptum a non-exclusive, perpetual, royalty-free license for publication and promotion. Copyright remains with the creator.

    V. Editorial Process and Copyright

    1. All submissions undergo double-blind peer review.
    2. First publication rights are exclusively granted to Royal Scriptum, while authors retain copyright.
    3. The submitter shall bear responsibility for legal and factual accuracy and shall indemnify the Editorial Board against any claims.
    4. Editorial modifications may be made without altering the substantive content.
    5. The decision of the Editorial Board shall be final and binding.
