About the Lecture series

The second lecture of our Fall 2021 Lecture Series, ‘Exploring the Ecosystem of International Law’, is on the topic ‘Multilingual Treaties’. The lecture will be hosted online and is scheduled for 19:00 IST on 8th August 2021. The distinguished speaker for this lecture is Mr. Peter Tzeng.

Speaker

Mr. Peter Tzeng

Peter Tzeng exclusively advises and represents countries (sovereign States) on matters of public international law and international arbitration. Peter regularly works on cases before the International Court of Justice (ICJ), where he previously clerked, as well as before the International Tribunal for the Law of the Sea (ITLOS), the Permanent Court of Arbitration (PCA), and the International Centre for Settlement of Investment Disputes (ICSID). A recipient of the Diploma of The Hague Academy of International Law, he speaks all six official languages of the United Nations (Arabic, Chinese, English, French, Russian, and Spanish) at varying levels of proficiency.

Peter is a graduate of Yale Law School, where he twice received the Jerome Sayles Hess Prize for “excellence in the area of international law.” He is also a recipient of the Jacques-Yvan Morin Prize, awarded to the best oralist at the French-language Charles Rousseau International Law Moot Court Competition. In addition, he was the author of the 2018 Problem of the Jessup International Law Moot Court Competition, which was the first non-compromis problem in the modern history of the competition.
