SRM Journal of Legal Studies (SRMJLS) aims to advance legal studies by providing a platform to publish high-quality research articles, case comments, and critical analyses on contemporary legal issues. It aims to bridge the gap existing between theory and practice, promote interdisciplinary study and provide a platform for both established and young scholars and erudite academicians. By maintaining academic integrity and fostering informed debate, the journal contributes to legal awareness and the growth of jurisprudence.

Suggested Areas: Constitutional Law, Corporate and Commercial Law, Criminal Law, Cyber Law, Intellectual Property Law, Environmental Law, Human Rights, Space Law, Sports Law, Construction Law, Media Law, Ocean Law, Nuclear Law, Technology Law and interdisciplinary legal research.

Submission Categories

  • Long Articles: 5000-8000 words
  • Short Articles: 3000-4500 words
  • Case Analyses and Briefs: 1000-2500 words
  • Book Reviews: 1000-2000 words.

Formatting Guidelines

  • For Body: Font: Times New Roman, Font Size: 12, Line Spacing:1.5,             
  • Margins: Defined and all sides must be 2.54cm (Default).
  • For footnotes: Font: New Roman, Font Size: 10, Line Spacing: 1.

Submission Guidelines

All articles must be accompanied by an abstract not exceeding 500 words and 4 to 5 keywords. The word limit should be adhered to as per the category. There can be a maximum of 10% deviation from the specified limited at the discretion of the Editorial Board. The word limit does not not include the Footnotes and Abstract.

All the contributions should be the original work of the contributors and should not have been submitted for consideration in any other publication.

Co-authorship: A maximum of 3 authors is allowed for every category. Authors must not disclose their names and designations in the body of the paper, instead, mention these details at the beginning of the document (before the abstract). The details must include: Names of Authors, Designations of Authors, Names of Institution(s), Official Email(s), Contact Number

Citation Style: All research works must be properly cited, following the Indian Law Institute (ILI) citation style. Non-compliance with the prescribed citation style will lead to rejection of the paper.

Plagiarism Limits: All submissions made should be the original work of the author and the plagiarism limit should be below 10%. All plagiarism reports must be accompanied by an AI detection report, wherein prevalence of AI-generated content must not exceed 15%. Any submitted research works having plagiarism that exceeds 10% or AI-generated content that exceeds 15% will be summarily rejected.

Review Process: SRM Journal of Legal Studies (SRMJLS) follows a double-blind peer-review policy. All submissions must abide by the guidelines and the final discretion of acceptance of the manuscript lies with the Editorial Board.

Acceptance Time: Acceptance of submissions will be communicated to the author(s) after being reviewed as per the policy within 45 days of the last date for submission of full paper.

Publication: The author(s) will be provided with a certificate of publication and reviewed works will be published in the digital volumes of SRM Journal of Legal Studies (SRMJLS)

Copyright Policy: All the moral rights shall vest with the author and it is recommended that all submissions must be politically neutral and abuse-free. The authors, by submitting their entries, will be deemed to have divested the copyright to SRM School of Law, SRM Institute of Science & Technology, Kattankulathur. While submitting the manuscript, the author should ensure that the work is not published or in consideration for publication elsewhere.
