About the Organisers
Law College Dehradun, as an institution of Uttaranchal University under the aegis of Sushila Devi Centre for Professional Studies and Research was established in the year 2002, as the first independent Law College of Uttarakhand. The college was the visionary project of Shri Jitendra Joshi, then chairman of the college and present President of the Uttaranchal University along with his plenipotentiaries from across the academic spectrum. Within a short span of tinfe, the college registered its reckoning presence, becoming one of the most sought after destinations in the field of legal education.

The 6th National Essay Writing Competition on Constitutional Law, 2025 is organised by Law College Dehradun faculty of Uttaranchal University under the aegis of Training and Recruitment Division.
- Co-authorship is not permitted.
- Essays should be:
Original (Max 10% Plagiarism is allowed)
Not exceeding 3000 words (excluding footnotes)
In English
Note: Font style should be ‘Times New Roman’ with Font size ’12’ for the body of the Essay and ‘Times New Roman’ with font size ’10’ for footnotes. - Footnoting Format shall be as provided by Indian law Institute. (ILI standard footnoting style).
Levels of Competition
Level 1: WRITING ROUND
Out of the submitted essays, the top 5 essays shall be selected. (Results: 6th November, 2025
Level 2: PRESENTATION ROUND
The top 5 scorers shall present their paper online through a Google meet and based on this First, Second and Third Prizes shall be declared.

Law Students, Scholars, Academicians, Lawyers, and Legal Professionals are eligible to participate.

1st Prize – 5,100/- + Certificate of Merit

Formatting Guidelines
- Each presentation must be structured into three segments: Introduction, Core Content, and Conclusion.
- The time limit for each presentation is 5 minutes.
- In case of any technical glitches, an additional 2 minutes may be allotted.
- Participants are expected to maintain professionalism throughout the competition.
- Participants must ensure a stable internet connection and test their devices in advance to avoid interruptions. 6. Exceeding the allotted time without valid reason may lead to deduction of marks/penalties as per the discretion of evaluators.
Selection Guidelines
- Language and Grammar – Accuracy, fluency, and correctness of expression.
- Application and Relevance of Law – Appropriate use and contextual relevance of the legal provisions cited in the manuscript.
- Clarity of Ideas – Logical flow, coherence, and ease of understanding of the arguments presented.
- Practicality and Feasibility of Suggestions – Realistic and implementable nature of the recommendations provided in the manuscript.
Submission Guidelines
1.All submissions must be made only through the submission link.
- The essay must be written in English and submitted in Microsoft Word document format (.doc/.docx).
- Only one submission is allowed per person.
- The essay must be original and bonafide work of the participant.
- Incomplete, Not adhering to the submission guidelines or plagiarised submissions shall be summarily rejected
- The word limit is 3000 words excluding footnotes.
- The essay should not be submitted for any other competition and/or for any other purpose.
- Soft copy of the Essay shall be submitted to: https://forms.gle/6iAjmQK7GiGe3Vkc7 by 11:59 PM latest by 30th October, 2025, along with author’s name(s) and contact number(s). The essay shall be uploaded in both Word and PDF formats.
