About GLC Mumbai

The Government Law College, Mumbai, (GLC Mumbai), India, founded in 1855, is the oldest law school in Asia. The college, affiliated to the University of Mumbai, is run by the Government of Maharashtra. Bal Gangadhar Tilak, Pratibha Patil, former President of India, and six Chief Justices of India, as well as several judges of the Supreme Court of India are alumni of the college.

About the Call for Papers

The Intellectual Property Rights Cell at Government Law College, Mumbai, is pleased to announce the 1st National Call for Papers on Intellectual Property Law. This event aims to provide a platform for students to explore and discuss critical issues in the field of intellectual property rights.

It invites original research papers, case studies, and thought-provoking articles on topics such as copyright, patents, trademarks, digital IP, and the intersection of IP with artificial intelligence, innovation, and international law.

General Submission Guidelines

1. Manuscripts must align with the scope and themes of the Journal of Intellectual Property Studies. The Journal focuses on publishing relevant content on intellectual property law and policy, including related areas like competition law, AI, and technology law. Submissions must primarily address these topics. 
2. Each manuscript must be the original, unpublished work of the author(s). Plagiarized content beyond 20% shall not be eligible for publication. 
3. Once a manuscript is accepted for publication in the Journal, the author(s) must obtain permission from the Editorial Board before publishing it elsewhere. The Board may grant or deny this request at their discretion. 
4. Author(s) must notify the Board if the manuscript is also submitted elsewhere. The Board must be immediately informed if the manuscript is accepted for publication by another journal, website, or forum. 
5. Solicited submissions are guaranteed publication after review by the Board for quality and content. 
6. For all disputes, the Chief Editor’s decision shall be final.
7. There shall be no Registration Fees for Publication. 
8. Participants must not disclose their names or any identifying information in their submission document. If such details are found, the submission will be rejected and disqualified. 
9. The ideas/views of the author expressed and published in the submission are respective views of the authors. The Committee shall not be held responsible or accountable for the opinion expressed by the author

Specific Guidelines

1. Authorship: Manuscripts may have up to two authors. 
2. Citations and References: Citations and references must follow “The Bluebook: A Uniform System of Citation (21st edition)”. Footnotes shall be used for citations; speaking footnotes are discouraged. 
3. Manuscripts: Manuscripts must not contain any identifying information about the author(s). 
4. The Journal accepts: A. Articles (5,000-6,000 words): Author(s) shall provide a comprehensive analysis of the literature and provide suggestions with an Abstract of 200-250 words. B. Essays (3,000-5,000 words): Author(s) shall challenge the existing norms and provide a fresh outlook on common problems with an Abstract of 150-200 words. The scope of the topic of the essays is comparatively narrower than that of the Articles. C. Case Comments (2,500-3,000 words): Author(s) shall critically analyse significant case laws with an Abstract of 150-200 words. 
5. All submissions shall be accompanied by a cover letter mentioning the title of the manuscript, full name of the author(s), position, Institutional affiliation, and contact details of the author(s). The body of the manuscript should not contain any personal details of the author, so as to enable anonymity. 
6. Formatting: The body of the manuscript shall be in Font Style Times New Roman, Font size 12, Line Spacing 1.5, Heading shall be Capitalized and Justified alignment. The footnotes shall be in Font Style Times New Roman, Font Size 10, Line Spacing It should Include Header and Footer in their manuscripts to the effect and the Header should mention the full Name of the Journal and the Footer should mention the page number. 
7. Authors must adhere to word limits. 
8. Manuscript without the Abstract shall be rejected. 

Editorial Review Process

• In the initial phase, the Editorial Board shall examine the submission for plagiarism and whether it aligns with the focus area as described in the Submission Guidelines. If the submission does not satisfy these prerequisites, it shall be rejected at this point and the Author(s) shall be notified about the rejection. 
• The Editorial Board shall evaluate the submission for depth of content and logical reasoning. They may reject the submission at this point. 
• Selected submissions shall be sent to a Expert Review Board with expertise in the subject matter. The Expert Review Board process is double-blind, meaning anonymous for both the Peer Reviewer and the Author(s). The Expert Review Board can recommend rejection or acceptance and give feedback about the submission. If the submission is rejected, the Author(s) will be informed accordingly.
• If the submission is recommended for acceptance, the comments and suggestions of the Editorial Board and the Peer Reviewer may be given to the Author(s). Such comments can include substantive and stylistic changes. Publication of the submission in the Journal shall depend on the Author(s) incorporating these suggestions within the allotted time.
• Authors shall provide clarifications pertaining to all the information sought by the Editorial Board during the review process. 
• Detailed feedback shall be provided to authors irrespective of the decision to encourage them.

Copyright Notice

Upon offer of publication, authors must accept:

• The work shall become the Journal’s property. 
• Republication in another publication requires the Journal’s permission and compliance with instructions.
• All material is licensed under CC BY 4.0.

Selection Criteria

The abstract and the Papers will be evaluated based on: Originality and innovation in approach. Research Methodology. Plagiarism Check (less than 10%). Relevance to the themes of the seminar. Quality of research and analysis.
