About the University

Established by Act XVII on 23rd September, 1887, University of Allahabad is the fourth-oldest modern university in India, after Calcutta, Bombay, and Madras. Renowned as the “Oxford of the East,” the University has played a pivotal role in India’s intellectual, legal, and political evolution by producing numerous eminent alumni and holds an esteemed position in the heart of the history of Indian education.

Located in the city of Prayagraj, the university spans approximately 400 acres and houses various faculties, including arts, science, commerce, and law. The university hosts numerous events, co-curricular and extracurricular, periodically for chiselling the personality of the students. The University recently celebrated its 138th Foundation Day, continuing its legacy as a historic and prestigious institution of higher education in India.

About the Faculty of Law

The Faculty of Law, with over a century of excellence, stands as one of the most distinguished schools for legal education in India. Tracing its origins to the 19th century, the faculty’s legacy is deeply intertwined with the development of the Indian judiciary and the legal profession, a fact demonstrated by the countless legal luminaries, Chief Justices of India, and prominent figures it has produced.

Upholding academic excellence, it now advances its intellectual contribution by hosting a dedicated law journal. This initiative reflects the faculty’s commitment to promoting academic research, meaningful policy, and thoughtful analysis in the field of law.

About Call for Papers

The Allahabad University Journal of Law & Policy (AUJLP) is a biannual, peer-reviewed publication by the Faculty of Law, University of Allahabad. As an inaugural venture, this journal aims to provide a forum for students, academics, and professionals to engage in discussions on varied issues of contemporary importance in domestic and international law and policy. The ‘Allahabad University Journal of Law & Policy: Volume 1’ invites original, unpublished manuscripts from law students, academics, practitioners, judges, and professionals in India and abroad.

Theme

There is no prescribed theme. It is advisable to choose a theme that is of contemporary relevance and has an issue of law to be engaged with analytically. Papers dealing with foreign themes should also engage with their relevance in the Indian Context.

Submission Categories

  • Short Articles: 3500 – 4500 words
  • Long Articles: 5000 – 6000 words
  • Case notes and/or Legislative Commentaries: 2000 – 5000 words
  • Book Reviews: 1500 – 2000 words

Submission Guidelines

  • Submissions must be in English and should be submitted in soft copy through email.
  • Each Submission (except Book Review) should be accompanied by an abstract of about 200-250 words and at least 5 keywords.
  • Submissions must conform to the HARVARD BLUEBOOK, 21st Edition.

  • Paper/Manuscripts should be submitted to the Editor at: [email protected]
  • A cover letter pertaining to the details of the author(s) and a self-declaration form must be attached alongside every submission.

Submission Deadline

The deadline for the submission of manuscripts is 11:59 PM (IST) on 10th December, 2025.
