About the Organiser

The Department of Law, MAIMS, under the aegis of Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University, New Delhi, has consistently endeavoured to blend rigorous academic instruction with practical exposure, and the Moot Court Society stands as a testament to that vision. It is a student-run body committed to promoting advocacy culture among young law students.

The Society has earned recognition for conducting events that bridge the gap between theoretical learning and practical application, thereby preparing students for the challenges of the legal profession. The National Moot Court Competition has been graced in its previous editions by eminent judges, senior advocates, and academicians who have evaluated rounds and guided students with their invaluable insights.

About the Competition

The Moot Court Society, Department of Law, Maharaja Agrasen Institute of Management Studies (MAIMS), Delhi, is organising the 6th edition of its National Moot Court Competition in 2025. This competition has, over the years, emerged as one of the most prestigious platforms for budding advocates to refine their research, drafting, and advocacy skills while engaging with some of the most pressing and contemporary legal issues.

With five successful editions already behind us, we continue our tradition of excellence by offering law students from across the country the opportunity to argue on a challenging proposition grounded in criminal law and counter-terrorism, ensuring that participants not only learn the art of courtroom advocacy but also develop a deeper understanding of issues of national and international significance.

The 6th National Moot Court Competition, 2025, will be conducted in a hybrid manner on the Zoom platform and at our campus in Rohini, Delhi, thus replicating a real courtroom environment and providing participants with a holistic experience of legal proceedings. The competition will include preliminary rounds, semi-finals, and the grand final round ending with Valedictory Ceremony. Each team will be judged on the quality of their memorials, clarity of arguments, application of law, research skills, and courtroom etiquette. Distinguished judges, lawyers, and professors will adjudicate the proceedings, ensuring that participants receive feedback that enhances their understanding of advocacy.

Eligibility

Participation is open to all students enrolled in a three-year LL.B. course or a five-year integrated law program from recognised law universities and colleges across India. Each team is expected to consist of two speakers and one researcher. Teams must belong to the same institution; cross-institutional teams will not be allowed. Through this structure, we aim to maintain fairness and uniformity while providing equal opportunity to students from diverse institutions to showcase their talents.
