About National Level Faculty Development Program

The rapid advancement of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and digital technologies has significantly transformed contemporary legal systems, governance frameworks, and justice delivery mechanisms across the globe. AI-powered tools are increasingly being used in legal research, case management, predictive analytics, forensic investigation, and judicial decision-support systems. These developments are reshaping traditional legal processes and raising complex questions related to ethics, accountability, transparency, and regulatory governance.

In recent years, legal institutions and courts worldwide have begun integrating technological innovations to enhance efficiency and accessibility in justice administration. AI-driven legal databases, automated document analysis, digital evidence management, and online dispute resolution platforms have become integral to modern legal practice. However, the growing reliance on algorithmic systems also raises concerns regarding bias, privacy, data protection, and the potential impact on fundamental rights. For legal academics and researchers, Artificial Intelligence presents both opportunities and challenges.

While AI tools can significantly enhance legal research capabilities, streamline academic writing, and facilitate interdisciplinary scholarship, they also require careful understanding of methodological limitations, ethical boundaries, and regulatory implications. Recognizing these transformative developments, the Department of Juridical Sciences, JIS University proposes to organize an International Faculty Development Programme on Law and Artificial Intelligence: Transforming Legal Research, Policy and Justice Delivery Systems.

The programme aims to bring together distinguished academicians, judges, researchers, and legal practitioners from India and abroad to deliberate on emerging intersections between law, technology, and governance. The FDP will provide a comprehensive platform for law teachers, researchers, and scholars to explore the implications of AI in legal research, criminal justice administration, digital governance, policy formulation, and judicial processes.

It will also focus on interdisciplinary research methodologies and innovative teaching approaches that integrate technology into legal education. Through expert lectures, panel discussions, and interactive sessions, the programme seeks to enhance the research capacity of law faculty members and encourage scholarly engagement with emerging technological developments in the legal domain. The FDP is expected to foster academic collaboration, promote interdisciplinary legal research, and contribute to the evolving discourse on Artificial Intelligence and law in both national and global contexts
