About the Organisers
ALL INDIA LAWYERS’ UNION was formed 40 years ago under the patronage and guidance of Justice V. R. Krishna Iyer, Justice H. R. Khanna and Justice A.C. Gupta, who were the icons of the Indian judiciary.
Since its formation in 1982, AILU has always remained steadfast in protecting and upholding the democratic rights of the legal fraternity and has also joined hands with the people’s struggle for a brighter tomorrow. Currently, the organization has the strength of about 50,000 public-spirited lawyers spread across the country.
The event is organised with the support of the Prestigious National University of Legal Studies, Kochi (NUALS, Kochi) wherein the Quarter, Semi and Finals of the Competition is held.
Details of the Event
The All India Lawyers Union Ernakulam District Committee is organising the 4th edition of C.P. Sudhakara Prasad Memorial National Moot Court Competition in 2025-26. The moot problem revolves around the Constitutional functions of the Governor under Article 200 of the Constitution of India to give assent to the Bills passed by the State Legislative assembly.
This topic is of great significance in the current legal and political scenario in view of the different cases filed by the State Governments of the country challenging the Governor’s actions before the Apex court. This competition hopes to be a collaborative experience that opens up the mind of Law students to new facets of Law.
Eligibility and Team Composition
- Participation is strictly restricted to undergraduate students pursuing a three-year or five-year LL.B. degree program from an institution recognized by the Bar Council of India.
- Each team must consist of two members, both of whom will be designated as speakers.
Location
The competition will be conducted in a hybrid mode to ensure broad accessibility and a high-quality in-person finale.
- Virtual Preliminary Rounds: The Preliminary Rounds will be held online on the 20th and 21st of December, 2025.
- In-Person Advanced Rounds: The Advanced Rounds, comprising the Quarter-finals, Semi-finals, and Finals, will be conducted offline on the 10th and 11th of January, 2026, at the NUALS campus in Kochi.

Fee Structure
- Registration Fee: Rs. 3500/- per team.
- Accommodation Fee (Advanced Rounds): Teams qualifying for the advanced rounds must make an additional payment of Rs. 2500/- per team for accommodation expenses, which will be provided by the organizers.

The competition celebrates and rewards exceptional legal talent through a comprehensive package of cash prizes, trophies, and certificates designed to recognize outstanding performance at every level.
- Winners: Trophy, Certificate of Merit, Medal, and a Cash Prize of ₹50,000/-.
- First Runner-up: Trophy, Certificate of Merit, Medal, and a Cash Prize of ₹35,000/-.
- Second Runner-up: Trophy, Certificate of Merit, and a Medal.
- Third Runner-up: Trophy, Certificate of Merit, and a Medal.
- Best Argument Note: Trophy, Certificate of Merit, and a Cash Prize of ₹10,000/-.

Beyond the primary awards, the competition also recognizes the deep talent pool by awarding individual trophies to all participants who advance to the Semi-Final and Final rounds.
A Certificate of Participation will be provided to all registered teams that successfully submit an Argument Note.

Registration and Submission Guidelines
- Each team shall register for the competition by filling an online registration form not later than the last date of registration, i.e. 14th February 2025.
- The Google Formis available here, and in case of any difficulties, the form can also be requested from the organisers by any eligible student.
- Once a team is registered, the organisers will assign a team code. This team code will serve as their unique identifier for Argument Note and at the Oral Rounds.
- Teams can send in their Argument notes via mail to [email protected].
- The organisers reserve the absolute discretion to refuse or cancel any team registration.
- There is no limit on the number of teams that may participate from a specific university or college.
