About NUSRL
The National University of Study and Research in Law, Ranchi has been established by an Act of the State Legislature prompted by the vision of the constitutional forefathers that the law, legal system, and legal institutions have an overreaching role in human, social, political and economic development of the Nation.
Situated in Ranchi, the capital city of Jharkhand, NUSRL has been established to develop a holistic perspective of legal education in all its ramifications, particularly advocacy, judicial and legal institutional services, legislations, law reforms and research in these areas. About the 2nd Surana & Surana & NUSRL National Criminal Law Moot Court Competition
The Surana & Surana & NUSRL National Criminal Law Moot Court Competition is conceived with the objective of fostering a systematic and scientific understanding of Criminal Law and its practical application. The Competition seeks to facilitate the evolution of criminal jurisprudence through critical analysis of existing legal frameworks and the emergence of progressive legal thought. It aims to sharpen advocacy, research, drafting, and courtroom skills of budding legal professionals by engaging them with complex criminal law issues. Through rigorous oral rounds and written submissions, the Competition provides a national platform for law students to engage with substantive and procedural criminal law in a professional and competitive environment.
Eligibility
The Competition is open to all students, enrolled bonafide on a regular basis in an Undergraduate law course or its equivalent conducted by any recognized institution. Additionally, there is no team cap, per university on participation.
Team Composition
Each team shall consist of a minimum of two (2) and a maximum of three (3) members, comprising two Speakers and one Researcher. A team of three members (3) must designate any two members as the speakers. Each team shall designate one member as the Primary Contact Person.
Once registered, a team will not be permitted to vary the composition of the team in any manner including the roles as originally assigned to the members. Changes, if any, may only be made with the express permission of the administrators (at their discretion), if due reason is shown for the same.

Teams qualifying for On-Campus Rounds shall be required to pay an additional Accommodation Fee of ₹6,000 per team on or before 25th February 2026.

- Winning Team: ₹24,000
- Runner-Up Team: ₹12,000
- Best Memorial: ₹6,000

- In addition to the above awards, plaques and certificates will be given to other categories of winners. All participants will be awarded participation certificates.
