About the Magazine Committee

Established in the year 2019, the Magazine Committee aims to chonicle and showcase the diverse activities and achievements within the institution as well as of the various competitions organised by the Committee. The Committee publishes it’s bi-annual magazine ‘The Muses’, written and edited by the students of the Department of Law, University of Calcutta, which chronicles all activities under the aegis of the institution and paints a picture of the yearly endeavours of this institute and its students.

This publication provides a platform for the students to exhibit their creative, scientific, literary, academic prowess. In this edition, the committee is accepting submissions from all. It also runs an online blog “The Musing” where articles, essays, poems and interviews are published.

About the Competition

Inkit is the flagship creative writing competition organised by the Committee. Various themes are given based on which the authors needs to send their submissions. The author is required to submit one submission only and based on one theme only.

The duration of the competition is from 17th March 2025 to 17th April 2025.

Themes

1. _A letter to your younger selves_

Basically a message, or feelings you have for your past selves. 

2. _’A’ one in a million_

Everyone is the main character in their own life. A piece where people can write about their experiences and hardships.

3. The language of the universe

4. Heart versus Brain- an internal war

5. If you were a character of/trapped in a book/movie.

6. If the world ends today

7. My definition of home

Not just that, top 3 submissions be ready to see your submissions featured on the Instagram feed of the Magazine Committee as well as published in the Committee’s official website and the upcoming edition of our Magazine, The Muses.

Submissions that are accepted are

  • Prose
  • Poetry
  • Short story
  • Essays
  • Blogs

Awards

  • E-Certificate of merits would be issued for the winner and 2 runners-up for each of the themes.
  • E-Certificate of participation would be given to all the participants.
  • Format: Word/docs file
  • Word limit: 800 words and for Poems 5 stanza maximum.

Submission/Registration Guidelines

  • Plagiarism Limit: 10%
  • No use of AI. AI Report must be submitted.
  • Document Format: Submissions should be in Word format (.doc/.docx)
  • Plagiarism & AI Reports: Must be in PDF format
  • Submission: Only via the provided Google Form
  • There is no age limit.
  • No sexual or politically inclined content
  • Files not following this format may be disqualified.

File Naming Format:-

  • Category_FullName_Title
  • Example: Blog_AryanSharma_ThePowerOfWords.word
