About the Event
The International Debate Competition (IDC) 2025, hosted by the Debate and Discussion Club (DDC) of Dr. Rajendra Prasad National Law University, Prayagraj (RPNLUP), is an annual international event unfolded on August 30, 2025, at the University’s academic block, marking a significant milestone in the institution’s global academic outreach. Designed as a one-day immersive experience, the competition is meticulously curated to offer participants a seamless blend of intellectual rigor and academic engagement.

The inaugural IDC welcomed 28 intellectually vibrant teams representing a diverse array of national law universities, public institutions, and private universities from across India and abroad. This impressive turnout created a dynamic, cross-cultural forum where participants were exposed to varied debating styles, successfully fulfilling the competition’s core objective of strengthening the academic environment through active participation.
The 2nd International Debate Competition is scheduled to be held on 26 September 2026. The central motion for this second edition turns its focus toward the complex mechanics of global politics and financial warfare, with the thought-provoking topic: “Economic Sanctions have Become Instruments of Geopolitical Coercion Rather Than Lawful Measures Under International Law.” This debate seeks to rigorously examine the ethical, legal, and practical effectiveness of unilateral and multilateral sanctions.
