About Organisation
The University School of Law and Research (USLR), a constituent department of the University of Science and Technology Meghalaya (USTM), is organising the competition.
USTM is the first State Private University in North East India accredited with an ‘A’ Grade. Sponsored by the ERD Foundation, Guwahati, it was established under the University of Science and Technology, Meghalaya Act, 2008 and is empowered by the University Grants Commission (UGC) under Section 22 of the UGC Act, 1956 to award degrees. The university has also received approvals from BCI, AICTE, NCTE, and the Pharmacy Council of India for its professional programmes.
Located at Baridua, Ri-Bhoi District, Meghalaya, near the Assam–Meghalaya border, USTM has strong connectivity by road, rail, and air and is near Guwahati and Dispur. The University School of Law and Research focuses on strengthening fundamental legal concepts, practical training through internships, and promoting research and innovation in law. It offers B.A. LL.B. (H), BBA LL.B. (H), LL.B. (H), LL.M., and Ph.D.
About the Opportunity
The 2nd Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Memorial Moot Court Competition 2026 is being organised as part of the 8th North East Graduate Congress (NEGC) 2026.
This is a national-level moot court competition aimed at promoting academic excellence and advocacy skills among law students. The competition provides a simulated courtroom experience based on real judicial proceedings and focuses on developing research, drafting, critical analysis, and oral argument skills.
The competition encourages participants to engage with important and contemporary legal issues while upholding the constitutional values and vision of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar.

Eligibility
Students enrolled in a 3-Year LL.B. or 5-Year Integrated LL.B. programme from a recognised educational institution are eligible to participate.
More than one team from the same institution is permitted.
Registration Fee
- NEGC Registration: ₹500 per participant
- Moot Court Competition Fee: ₹1,000 per team
- Total Combined Fee: ₹2,500 per team (payable upon arrival)

- Winning Team – ₹30,000
- Runner’s Up Team – ₹15,000
- Best Memorial Award – ₹5,000
- Best Speaker Award – ₹5,000
- Best Researcher Award – ₹5,000

- Last Date of Memorial Submission: 23rd March 2026
- Accommodation Period: 26th March 2026 (09:00 AM) to 29th March 2026 (12:00 PM)
- Event Dates: 26th- 28th March, 2026
- (Accommodation will be provided only to 3 members of a team on a shared basis.
- Accommodation will be provided from 09:00 AM, 26th March 2026 to 12:00 PM, 29th March 2026.)
