About the Institution

The Kerala Law Academy Law College (KLA), established in 1966 is a Centre for legal studies, legal research, and law reforms. Its acclaimed peer-reviewed Research Journal has been published continuously since 1977. The College, affiliated with the University of Kerala, offers Undergraduate programs in BA LL.B. and B. Com LL.B. five-year integrated courses, LLB Unitary three-year course, and post-graduate courses of LL.M (Administrative Law), LL.M (International Law) and MBL (Master of Business Law).

About the Competition

The 25th Kerala Law Academy Client Counselling Competition, organized by The Kerala Law Academy Law College, Thiruvananthapuram, promotes legal consulting, interviewing, and analytical skills among budding lawyers. This year’s edition will be conducted offline at the KLA Campus from 6th to 8th November 2025.

Eligibility

  • The Competition is open to all Law Colleges/Law school’s /Law  Universities and Faculties/University Departments of Law in  India recognized by the Bar Council of India. The participation  is limited to LL.B. students both in the Three-Year Scheme and  Five-Year Scheme. Students doing post-graduation in law and  students undergoing correspondence courses are not eligible to  participate in the Competition. 
  • More than one team per College/Institution may take part in the  competition, provided that explicit permission has been provided  from the specified College/Institution for the same. Each team  shall comprise two students.

Competition Format

  • Simulated lawyer–client interviews followed by post-consultation analysis.
  • Evaluation based on professional approach, problem identification, client goals, ethical handling, and teamwork.
  • Four rounds: Preliminary, Quarterfinal, Semifinal, and Final.

Important Dates

  • Provisional Registration: by 20 October 2025
  • Final Registration & Fee Payment: by 25 October 2025
  • Release of Subject Memorandum: 28 October 2025
  • Competition Rounds: 7–8 November 2025
  • Valedictory & Prize Distribution: 8 November 2025

With Accommodation (AC Dormitory): ₹6,500

Dress Code

Formal black-and-white professional attire; gowns/bands not permitted.
