About the Event

1st State Level Online Essay Competition on Women’s Rights and Their Protection

The objective of the competition is to encourage participants to represent their views and the ability to do research on the emerging issues related to women and their protection from a legal point of view. The competition will allow the participants to enhance their research skills and writing skills. The online mode would help them provide the ease to work out on their skills set and do rectitude research.

Eligibility

Students enrolled in any UG course from any law college recognized by any university in India are eligible to participate in the competition. Any number of students from a law college or institute recognized by the university in India can participate separately by filling out the registration form and paying the fees.

  • Sexual Harassment at Workplace
  • Domestic violence and women’s rights
  • Cyberbullying and women
  • Reproductive technologies and the rights of women
  • Right to self-determination by women
  • Women’s rights in the conflicting zones at the national and international levels
  • Immoral trafficking of women in India.

Submission and Formatting Guidelines

  • The title of the paper should be followed by the name of the student participant, year, name of the organization/ university, or institution, email address, and phone number (preferably WhatsApp no.). It is mandatory to mention your email address, as all future correspondence will be through it.
  • The participant is allowed to write on any ONE TOPIC for the essay competition.
  • The paper should be typed in MS Word format only.
  • The page should be A4 size only.
  • The chapter should be in Times New Roman 12-point font and single-spaced.
  • The main title should be in full capitals, bold, and centered in 12-point font.
  • Sub-titles should be in sentence case, bold, and 10-point font.
  • Citation Format: No endnotes are to be used. Footnotes should be in Times New Roman 10-point font in SILC citation style; it should be uniform throughout the essay paper.
  • The word limit for the submission is 2500–3500 words (excluding abstracts and footnotes).
  • The margins must be justified.
  • Essays must be original, unpublished, and non-plagiarized and shall not be under simultaneous consideration for publication elsewhere.
  • Copyright: The copyright of all entries shall exclusively vest with New Law College, Mumbai, and the submission would imply that the author has assigned such rights to the Centre.
  • Plagiarism: Any submission that is found to be plagiarized beyond 20% shall NOT be allowed for the competition.
  • PLEASE NOTE THAT THE ESSAY SHOULD BE E-MAILED ON [email protected] ONLY. The essay shall NOT be accepted in any other form.

  • 1st Price: Rs. 2000/-
  • 2nd Price: Rs. 1000/-
  • E- Certificate of Merit to top 10 participants.
  • E- Certificate of Participation to all the participants.

  • Registration Link closes: 25th February 2024 till 6.00 pm
  • Essay Submission Deadline: 25th February 2024 till 6.00 pm.
  • Result declaration: 8th March 2024 (Shall be sent to their registered emails.)
