About the National Human Rights Commission
Established on October 12, 1993, the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) is a vital institution in the landscape of human rights protection and promotion in India. The NHRC serves as a sentinel of human rights, entrusted with the responsibility of ensuring justice for victims of rights violations and promoting a culture of respect for human dignity. Its primary functions include receiving and investigating complaints of human rights violations, promoting human rights awareness, and recommending measures to prevent their recurrence.
About The 1st Nhrc-Mnlua National Moot Court Competition, 2024
The NHRC-MNLUA National Moot Court Competition is to be an annual event that will serve as a platform for law students to showcase their legal acumen and advocacy skills in the field of human rights. Participants from various law schools and universities across the country will converge to engage in simulated court proceedings.
General Details
- Date: February 9-11, 2024
- Mode: Offline
- Venue: Campus of Maharashtra National Law University, Aurangabad, Aurangabad, Maharashtra –431005.
Eligibility
- Undergraduate students pursuing a recognized Bachelor of Law (or an international equivalent) program.
- Only ONE team can register from a particular College or Law School for participation in the competition. In the event two registrations are received from the same College or Law School, the Team that submits the Verification Form first by the Head / Dean of the Institution / Moot Court Committee, authorizing them to participate on behalf of the College or Law School shall be entitled to participate and will be registered. The prescribed Verification Form may be accessed here.
Note –Bachelor of Law means a 3-year course post-graduation or 5-year integrated course for Indian students or an undergraduate degree in law recognized by the Bar or Regulator of where the student is undergoing education.
Team Composition
Each team shall consist of two speakers and one researcher.

- Last Date for Seeking Clarifications: January 7, 2024
- Release of clarifications: January 14, 2024
- Release of Official Team Codes: January 15, 2024
- Last Date for memorial submission in Soft Copy: January 22, 2024
- Last Date for memorial submission in Hard Copy: January 31, 2024
- SCC Online Seminar and Draw of Lots: February 4, 2024
- Oral Rounds: February 9-11, 2024

- Winner Team: Rs. 30,000/-
- Runner-up Team: Rs. 20,000/-
- Best Orator (Male): Rs. 10,000/-
- Best Orator (Female): Rs. 10,000/-
- Best Memorial (Petitioner): Rs. 10,000/-
- Best Memorial (Respondent): Rs. 10,000/-
- Best Researcher: Rs. 10,000/-
Registration Procedure
- The registration commences on 30th November 2023.
- The teams will have to register themselves at this Google Form by completing and submitting the Registration Form available no later than 10.00 pm IST on 31st December 2023. Incomplete registration forms shall not be accepted.
- A registration fee of Rs. 5000/- (Rupees Five Thousand Only) shall be charged to all participating teams for the competition and the same may be paid here at this link. Please note that the registration fee once paid shall not be refunded.
