About The Department Of Law And Governance

The Department of Law and Governance stands as a trailblazer in shaping contemporary legal professionals equipped with a multidisciplinary perspective. About The National Human Rights Commission

The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) of India was constituted on 12 October 1993 under the Protection of Human Rights Act, 1993 to safeguard and promote human rights across the country. The current chairperson of NHRC is Justice V. Ramasubramanian (Former Hon’ble Justice, SC).

It functions as a quasi-judicial authority. The NHRC’s relevance is further underscored by its alignment with global standards, as a member of the Global Alliance of National Human Rights Institutions, ensuring India’s compliance with instruments like the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights.

About The Competition

CUSB is elated to announce its 1st edition of the NHRC-CUSB National Moot Court Competition, 2026 in collaboration with the National Human Rights Commission, is to be held from 12th March, 2026 – 14th March, 2026 in physical mode. The Competition shall consist of Researchers test on 12th of March, 2026, two Preliminary rounds on 13th March, 2026, Quarter-Final on 13th March, 2026, Semi-Final and Final on14th March, 2026 (in physical mode).

The NHRC–CUSB Moot Court Competition is a flagship initiative aimed at fostering critical engagement with contemporary Human Rights and Privacy issues. It seeks to promote discussion on emerging jurisprudence while providing law students nationwide a dynamic platform to develop courtroom etiquette, advocacy, research, and argumentative skills in a simulated judicial setting.

The moot proposition revolves around the different facets of Human Rights and privacy issues and concomitant laws. However, the students shall feel free to scout other dimensions of legal issues involved. We wholeheartedly invite you all to participate in this flagship event which shall be organised in the premises of our campus, amidst the ecstatic beauty of Bodh Gaya, a UNESCO world heritage site, along with Vishnupad Temple, where you can find ‘the “padchinh”(footprint) of Lord Vishnu.

Eligibility Criteria

The Competition shall be open to the students who are pursuing any Integrated 5-Year LL.B Program or 3-Year LL.B Program.
