About the College
The Central Law College, Salem is recognized by The Bar Council of India, New Delhi, and was originally affiliated to the University of Madras and later with The Tamil Nadu Dr. Ambedkar Law University, Chennai. The institution is a reputed and prestigious institution conducting Five years of B.A.LL.B, Three years of LL.B Law Courses, and LL.M in the State of Tamil Nadu since 1984, founded by Prof. R. V. Dhanapalan. The college celebrated its Silver Jubilee in the year 2009, well known for its Legal Education, and aims to introduce the students to the basic concepts of law and enrich them with knowledge and experience with the aim to shape them to take up the Legal Profession with Dignity.
About the Opportunity
The Central Law College, Salem is organizing a Day National Conference on Media – The Fourth Pillar: Need For Introspection on 14th October 2023.
Theme
The media plays a crucial role in shaping public opinion, disseminating information, and holding power accountable. It has long been referred to as the “Fourth Pillar” of democracy. However, for the media to fulfill its role effectively, it must maintain its independence and adherence to ethical standards. In recent times, the media landscape has witnessed significant changes with the advent of digital platforms, social media, and new technologies.
In light of this stance, The Central Law College, Salem organizes a one-day National Conference on the theme “Media – The Fourth Pillar: Need for Introspection” on 14th October 2023. There are various sub-themes with reference to the main theme that explores the vast areas of research. The Conference aims to bring together media professionals, legal experts, academicians and scholars, policymakers, students, and stakeholders to engage in critical discussions about the current state of media, its challenges, and the path forward.

Formatting Guidelines
- Abstract: The abstract shall not exceed 300 words and shall include five keywords. The author(s) shall specify the title of the paper, Name(s), and designation of the Author(s). All abstracts should be submitted by filling in the following Google Form Link https://forms.gle/VZyxiDyKTGpniRsj7 On or before 28.08.2023. The Author(s) of the shortlisted Abstract(s) shall be intimated on or before 01.09.2023.
- Full Paper: The conference paper should be original, unpublished, and should adhere to the conference theme. The full paper can be submitted using the following Google Form Link on or before 20.09.2023
- Page Limit: Full paper should not exceed 3000 words.
- Text: Size 12-pt. Times New Roman, 1.5 line spacing; heading 14-pt (bold), Times New Roman: Sub-headings 12-pt (bold), Times New Roman.
- Reference Style: Authors to Cite Reference and avoid Plagiarism. The Blue Book: A Uniform System of Citation – 21st Edition reference style or APA reference style should be followed strictly.
- Author Name and Designation: Author Name and Designation would appear under the Title of the Paper on the First Page / Abstract.
- Author and Co-Author: There may be an author and a co-author for a research paper
Registration Fees
- Students Participation Fee: Rs. 250 (Conference Kit and Participation Certificate will be provided) Advocate, Academician, Research Scholars, Participation Fee Rs. 500 (Conference Kit and Participation Certificate will be provided)
- Registration Fee for Paper Presenters: Rs. 750 (Author and Co-Author should pay separately)
- Publication Fee: Rs. 1500 (Publication Fee should be paid only after receiving confirmation from the conference committee.)
- The Registration, Participation and Publication Fee can be paid through all UPI platforms, Net Banking Mobile Banking, or DD in favor of “The Principal (Expenses)”, payable at Salem and addressed to The Principal, The Central Law College, Salem-8
Registration Procedure
The authors of the selected abstracts have to register and pay the prescribed fee before the submission of full paper. The author and co-author have to pay their fees individually for registration. Publications of Conference Proceedings
- Best and original papers will be selected for publication with ISBN and authors will be contacted for the same.
- Participation: Those who are interested only to participate should register and pay the prescribed fee using the Google Form Link on or before 05.09.2023. To pay the fees, click here.
