About the Institution

Dr. Ambedkar Government Law College, Puducherry, was established in the year 1972 by the Government of Puducherry, it is affiliated to Pondicherry University and approved by Bar Council India. This institution is known all over India for its excellence and rich contribution to legal education. In Puducherry, it is the only Government Law College having a vast curriculum, and it has earned its reputation in such a way that legal education in Puducherry and Dr. Ambedkar Government Law College have been treated as synonymous with each other.

About the Moot Court Competition

This edition being the XLI edition of the All India Moot Court Competition, it was decided that we focus this year’s competition on a contemporary issue involving both Criminal Law and Constitutional Law. This year’s problem is based upon contemporary issues of Criminal Law like “Treason, Bulldozer Justice and Contempt” all of which deal with Constitutional aspects of Criminal Law.

Though each of these aspects have been elaborately dealt with by the Hon’ble Supreme Court of India, there are certain issues that warrant discussion. The moot court aims to ignite legal minds interested in matters involving Criminal Law and Constitutional Law. With meticulous research and preparation, students will get in-depth insight into both these significant branches of law. It is in this backdrop, we have designed this year’ competition.

Eligibility

Participation is restricted to bona fide undergraduate students of 5 years B.A. LL.B. and 3 years LL.B. programme of any University/College/Institution (recognised by the Bar Council of India).

Team Restriction

Due to administrative reasons it has been decided to limit the number of participating teams to 32. The first 32 teams registering to the event by submitting the Registration Form and fees will be selected. (Provisional Registration alone will not be sufficient).

Important Dates

*The Quarter-Final Rounds might be conducted on March 09, 2025. The final decision shall be taken during the Competition.

Registration Procedure

Institutions that are interested in sending a team to participate in this Moot Court Competition are required to send an e-mail to [email protected] to provisionally register for the same. The last date for provisional registration is February 05, 2025. A confirmation e-mail will be sent to the colleges who have sent the provisional registration emails.

The participating team must submit the hard copy of the Registration Form along with the DD and travel form on or before February 15, 2025. The Registration Form, along with the demand draft, should be sent by post to The Principal, Dr. Ambedkar Government Law College, Mathur Road, Kalapet, Puducherry – 605014. Upon receipt of the hard copy of the registration form, the team codes of the participating teams will be sent via E-mail.

After Registration, any request for change of name/ participants will not be entertained except at the sole discretion of the Moot Committee. Registration fee is Rs. 3000/- for each participating team, payable only by way of DD drawn in favour of The Principal, Dr. Ambedkar Government Law College, Puducherry, payable at Puducherry.
