About the Organiser

The VITSOL Legal Aid Committee functions under VIT School of Law, Chennai. Established in 2014, the institution focuses on quality legal education and socially responsible lawyering.

The Committee actively promotes access to justice through legal awareness camps, prison legal aid assistance, Lok Adalat participation, and collaborations with legal authorities and NGOs, fostering civic responsibility among students.

About the Event

The Great Indian Electorate – The Election Literacy Competition is a multi-event competition aimed at promoting electoral awareness, civic participation, and democratic responsibility among students.

The competition invites school (Grades 8–12) and undergraduate students to creatively and critically engage with themes surrounding voting behaviour, democratic accountability, and youth participation in elections.

The total prize pool for the competition is Rs. 60,000, and participation is free of cost.

  • Eligibility: School Students (Grades 8–12) and Undergraduate Students
  • Registration Fee: Free
  • Mode of Conduct:
    • Creative & Policy Events: Online submission
    • Quiz: Exclusively Offline at VIT Chennai Campus
  • Certificates:
    • E-certificates for online participants
    • Physical certificates for quiz participants

Events and Details

Ballot Box Office – Short Film Making Event

Theme: Consequences of decisions taken by voters (including non-voters) in a democracy.

Sub-Themes:

  1. “Does My Vote Matter?”
  2. Election Night and Varied Emotions
  3. NOTA for the Win
  4. One-Vote Victory
  5. When Phones Predict Election Outcomes

Team Size: 2–5 members
Duration: Maximum 8 minutes
Format: MP4 (Minimum 720p resolution)
Music: Strictly no copyrighted music. Only royalty-free or original compositions permitted.

Eligibility: School (Grades 8–12) & Undergraduate Students
Submission Deadline: Extended till 10th March

Judging Criteria: Creativity, relevance to theme, cinematography, and impactful storytelling.

Ink & Irony – Cartoon/Comic Strip

Theme: Ballot Box Speaks – Secret Life of a Ballot Box

Eligibility: Grades 8–12 only
Team Size: 1–2 members
Format Requirements:

  • Must fit within one A4 sheet (Landscape orientation)
  • Maximum 3 strips per submission
  • Must be hand-drawn (Scanned and submitted as PDF)
  • AI tools permitted only for brainstorming/background reference; final submission must be hand-drawn

Submission Deadline: Extended till 10th March

Judging Criteria: Artistic skill, wit, and thematic relevance.

Lokaniti – Policy Drafting Competition

Policy Theme: Participants must design a policy involving gamification to encourage Gen Z and Gen Alpha to participate in voting.

Team Size: 1–2 members
Format: Microsoft Word (.docx)

Submission Structure:

  • Executive Summary: Maximum 300 words
  • Full Policy Proposal: Maximum 2000 words

Submission Deadline: Extended till 10th March

Evaluation Criteria: Feasibility, innovation, research depth, and clarity of policy objectives.

The Quest – Offline Quiz

Mode: Offline (In-person)
Venue: Delta Block, VIT Chennai Campus
Date: 13th March 2026
Team Size: Maximum 2 members

Registration Deadline: 9th March

Structure:

  • Separate categories for School and Undergraduate participants
  • Screening round if more than 20 teams per category
  • Stage rounds for shortlisted teams

Additional Benefits:

  • Lunch and refreshments will be provided
  • Gift hampers for all quiz participants

Prize Money Distribution (Applicable to All Competitions)

  • 1st Place – Rs. 5,000
  • 2nd Place – Rs. 3,000
  • 3rd Place – Rs. 2,000

Total Prize Pool: Rs. 60,000
