Seedling School Of Law And Governance, Jaipur National University, Jaipur Conducted Its 2nd Ever National Trial Advocacy And Judgment Writing Competition

The Seedling School of Law and Governance, Jaipur National University, Jaipur organised and conducted the 2nd ever National Trial Advocacy and judgment writing competition inaugurated by Hon’ble Justice (Mr) Ajay Rastogi, Judge of Supreme Court, New Delhi. Dr. Rajendra Singh (Known as the Waterman of India), Awardee of Ramon Magsaysay in 2001, an environmentalist and water conservationist was invited as the Guest of Honour. Dr Sandeep Bakshi, Chancellor of Jaipur National University, Dr. Preeti Bakshi, Executive Director, Prof (Dr) HN Verma, Pro-Chancellor and Prof (Dr) RL Raina, Vice Chancellor of Jaipur National University, Jaipur were present.
Hon’ble Justice (Mr) Ajay Rastogi, Supreme Court Judge, addressed the gathering and shared a few words of wisdom. He stressed on the importance of trials and how it forms the base for any legal proceeding. Justice Ajay Rastogi also emphasized on how every aspiring lawyer should give importance to their studies and reading. He delved upon the importance of understanding the basics of any subject in order to become masters of the same. He also motivated and encouraged budding lawyers to set a goal for themselves and work passionately in order to achieve them.
Dr. Rajendra Singh, who is the Guest of Honour, believes that this competition not only serves as a platform for exhibiting knowledge and advocacy skills but also motivates the budding lawyers for future challenges. It also shows the role of legal professionals and law played in upholding these fundamental values. He said that the competition is not only measured solely on the purpose of awards but leaves a lasting impact on the participants and the legal community. He emphasized that the event provides conducive and competitive learning environment by encouraging students to take part in National and International competitions. Further, it endeavors to create value conscious skilled lawyers with par excellence serving dynamic needs of the community.
Dr. Sandeep Bakshi emphasized that the main motive of the organization is to enhance various skills that are basic for any law student like skills related to researching, drafting, mooting, legal writing etc. He said that being first of its kind, the competition would provide the participants a unique opportunity to practice their advocacy skills. The event has been imagined with the plan to develop the specialty of composing decisions among students to push the students to compose decisions. Dr. Bakshi encouraged each participant to fully embrace the opportunity and challenges for the experiences that lie ahead. He pointed out, “This is one of the best opportunities to learn from distinguished judges and law practitioners and to test your abilities against peers from diverse backgrounds.”
Prof (Dr) Satish C Shashtri, Director of Seedling School of Law and Governance, Jaipur National University, Jaipur, briefed about the introduction of the Seedling School of Law and Governance. Prof Shashtri emphasized the importance of the event, pointing out that the event brings one face to face with the nuances of criminal law while promoting quick thinking and giving a novice the chance to glance into the exhilarating realm of trials which consists of an examination of witnesses and evidence amongst other things. He emphasized that this event provides an opportunity for talented law students to showcase their advocacy skills. He shared his insights about the world of jurisprudence, and the need to be informed, knowledgeable and confident in the present world. Prof Shashtri lastly pointed out, “Your participation in this competition is a testament to your dedication and hard work. It will be a transformative experience for all the persons involved.”
