The School of Law and Public Policy, Avantika University encourages young minds to cultivate the characteristics that turn good students into great writers: independent thought, depth of knowledge, clear reasoning, critical analysis and persuasive style. Our Essay Competition invites students to explore a wide range of challenging and interesting questions beyond the confines of the school curriculum. This Competition provides a platform for young, ambitious School and College students to exercise their writing skills and compete with students from all over the nation!

Essay competitions can build knowledge and refine argumentation skills. It also gives students the chance to have their work assessed by experts. This competition encourages students to challenge themselves and explore different writing styles to ultimately strengthen their writing skills. All of our essay prizes are judged by a panel of senior and renowned academicians drawn from leading universities.

Eligibility

Entry to the Avantika’s Essay Competition 2025 is open to students/professionals/academicians/others from any part of India.

Prizes

There is a first and Second Prize for the best essay. The prize for the First winner is 5000/—INR, and the Prize for the Second winner is 3000/—INR.

​The judges’ decisions are final, and no correspondence will be entertained.

Formatting Guidelines

Each essay must address only the topic of the competition and must not exceed 1500 words (not counting diagrams, tables of data, endnotes, bibliography or authorship declaration). 

The file name of your word file must be in this format: FirstName-LastName-Profession-DistrictName-docs so, for instance, Chirag Sharma, a student from Delhi Public School, Indore would submit his Essay with the following file name:

 Chirag-Sharma-Student-Indore-docs

 Essays with file names that are not in this format will be rejected.

​The candidate’s name should NOT appear within the document itself. 

​Candidates should NOT add footnotes. They may, however, add endnotes and/or References that is clearly titled as such.

Selection Guidelines

Our grading system is proprietary. Essayists may be asked to discuss their submission with a jury or member or faculty of the School of Law and Public Policy, Avantika University. We use various means to identify plagiarism, contract cheating, the use of AI and other forms of fraud. Our determinations in all such matters are final.

Essays will be judged on knowledge and understanding of the relevant material, the competent use of evidence, quality of argumentation, originality, structure, writing style and persuasive force.

Submission Guidelines

All entries must be submitted by 11.59 pm IST on the submission deadline: Sunday, 26th January 2025.

Submissions may be made as soon as registration opens in January 2025. We recommend that you submit your essay well in advance of the deadline to avoid any last-minute complications. To submit your essay, do use the given Email Id: [email protected]

Important Dates

• Deadline for Early Bird Registration: Monday, 20th January 2025.
• Late registration deadline: Friday, 24th January 2025.
• Submission deadline: Sunday, 26th January 2025.
• Notification of short-listed essayists: Friday, 31st January 2025.
• Awards Ceremony: Monday, 03rd February 2025.

Registration Fees

Subject to the provision of late registration, only candidates who register before the registration deadline of Monday, 20th January 2025 may enter this year’s competition. The registration fee for the competition is 250/- INR per candidate. After the last date of registration, registration may be possible subject to payment of late Registration-fee 300/- INR for which the deadline will be Friday, 24th January 2025.
